A new storm in a teacup to accompany the hormones and twigs debacles.
I like Martin Bowler, but I think he's got his work cut out to prove it isn't him in the video which has surfaced telling an angler to re-hook the fish just to get a better shot or two.
It doesn't take much research to find out who the second angler in the video is, the brand of tackle/clothing being used, and Drennan's previous use of that swim on the Wye.
I very much doubt someone would go to all that effort to pretend to be Martin Bowler just to stitch him up, but happy to be proved wrong, especially as he tries to launch his new business venture.

I've seen the video, bowler says it was a set up and it's not him....I personally don't believe him. Appalling if true, but wouldn't surprise me. He's part of gnash now, same as Alan Blair who let fish go into snags on his films before trying to get them out, so nothing surprises me unfortunately

i too have also seen the video.
words fail me as to the way angling is today.
It will be very interesting to see how Bowler responds, if he does at all

A shame if it is true, Bowler was supposed to be one of the good guys.

Begs a question as to how many times before he's done it.
certainly puts a real downer on his filming he's done/doing.

The only response i've seen so far is that he "does not recall the conversation"
Even if I was a complete scumbag and rehooked a fish 30 years ago let alone 3 years ago, i'd remember it through utter shame, just like the poor deephooked Perch which died as I frantically tried to use a disgorger. I was six years old.
You either remember that moment, or it did not happen.

Yes mate, just launched it and the content looked good. Not seen the video myself but don't want to believe it's true as he has always come across as a good bloke (in his writings, films and face to face). If it is then his reputation will be shot and you then start to question some of his other material, which would be a shame

Unfortunately over the years ive heard a few of what are considered to be excellent films/vids have been doctored in the same fashion.... if true its plain wrong. The problem is we all know it costs money to film... to actualy get footage of the bite, playing and landing of fish requires some to be with the angler 24/7 so its not surprising that fish are being rehooked when the camera man turns up when given the nod a capture has been made and gets paid half a days pay instead of a few days pay.... the capture is now less important than the footage itself as far as publicity goes and without doubt temptation to cut corners and save money is huge.... but its a pitiful world we live in when some of the most inspirational films/vids have been smeared by rumours of rehooking. One old book and film i learned of such pratice i got rid of immediately upon realising the desperate idiots had resorted to such a low deed. I hope this latest tale isnt true because it would taint everything this guy has done.

But what makes alot of Martins material within films, actually isn't the fish.
The video is plain to see that its him and i was sent it on Saturday. i was, i must admit, very very disappointed.
i remember a story some years ago when a what was then a very well known midlands angler fishing at Cuttle Mill and Tony, the owner at the time re hooked one of his fish on the Midlands angler rig, and then was filmed as a "real live take"

I remember Mike willmott saying he was asked to re hook a fish by I believe the same film producer on a filming trip to Rainbow lakes in France back in the days of vhs video cassettes in the early 90's. He very rightly refused to do it.
There was no excuse back then when it was one man and a camera.
And there's definitely no excuse with the amount of cameras they take on shoots these days.
If its true? and to be honest it would surprise me if it is ? That's a pretty poor show from an angler of Martins reputation.
