I only fish with my RT4 baitboat these days so wondering what rods would be most suitable.
I tend to fish 50-100 yards, one lake being weedy. I also go to France a couple of times a year so they need to handle 60s.
But I'm not casting so not sure what TC, action or length would be optimum and feel great playing fish.
My budget is generous but cheaper the better 😁, I'm more bothered about the spec being right.
What would you suggest?

You can use anything as all you will be doing is winding them in with a fish on the end
Do you want them to bend to the butt during the fight
Or
Do you want to winch them in
Anything from 6foot to 13.6 will also do
No one can tell you what rod will be right for you or suit your style only you can do that
A float rod can handle a 60 if you play it carefully enough

If im using a bait boat, i only use my 9ft 2.75 xtractors. Cheap as chips
20s fight harder than 60s so dont worry about buying decent rods. Short rods are also handy if you need to go out in a boat.
I've had carp to 68 and cats to 130 on my xtractors

The only downside is you have slightly fewer options in terms of angle if you have to play them from the bank because of their length.
Apart from that, no issues. Ive used the at farlows thorney weir etc. Both of which can get pretty weedy and ive dragged a good few through decent weed beds

I'd be looking at something you can use if your bait boat packed in so only you can answer that really mate

10' 3/3.25s are good fun with big fish if your not casting - but agree with others shorter rods can be limiting in terms of line angles. One thing I would say is if you're only using a boat then go for a through action rod every time - much better to play fish on and much more grunt for bigger fish / hookpulls less likely - Century FBS 10' 3lb or 12' 2.75lb perhaps?

is what I used for years with my boats a thru action 12' 2.75lb Century NGs had loads of big fish to 68lb great fun and can land any carp you are liable to catch when compressed tremendous pulling power
I certainly would not want to use anything less than 11ft

In that situation I'd be looking at 3lb Acurix, I suppose even 2.75 would do. Personally I don't pull through weed just keep the pressure on and if I have to apply more pressure that that I always pull from the reel ie, rod flat, clutch tightened, walk back.
Being able to get the distance and still use a players rod, that's the best fishing scenario I can think of (for me)
