I notice that there is a “version” of Mondter Pursuit flavour now available...

I have fond memories of this bait and fancy knocking up some hookbaits for use this year with it!

Anyone got any ideas as to what would be a decent base mix I could use to get a bait something similar to what used to be available of the shelf back in the day? This would be for Bottom Baits and Corkball Pop-Ups.

Are we talking about the old Nash Monster pursuit bait as used by the likes of Yerry hearn and Nigel sharp back in the day. From memory it was a fishmeal bait with added Robin red with an added Shellfish flavour.

He means just the flavouring rather than the base mix though

Yes the old Nash Bait.

Johnson Ross have a Monster Pursuit flavour made by a company called forgotten flavours, I was thinking I'd give it a go in an off the shelf Base Mix for some Hookbaits.

Obviously they won't be “The” Monster Pursuit of old but thought there may be a Base Mix that is similar too or may work well with it!?

No idea how close it is to the original Monster Pursuit, but the Patshull Park mix from Quality Baits is a well regarded off the shelf red fishmeal base mix. Might be worth a go if you want to use a pre mixed base.

You can also buy The Source base mix from Dynamite. Can't remember the exact timeline but think this may have followed on from Monster Pursuit when TH moved companies?

1.5kg bag of Nutrabaits BFM base mix should make you plenty of hookbaits.

As good as BFM may be, it's not a patch on how good it used to be.

Blakes baits do a red fishmeal:
