BAIT is a 4letter word that brings out the nastiness in folks Why is that

You either fall into one of the following categories :-

- Don´t know f`all about bait and want to learn
- Know enough to get the gist of it, but want to delve in deeper
- Take it to the next level, produce your own, but still seek guidance
- Doyen who´s been there & done that, BUT won´t spill the beans
- Doyen who´s been there & done that, AND WILL GLADLY spill the beans

Why does a simple discussion about bait, cause such upheaval at times, causing folks to fall out, bigtime Everyone´s entitled to a different opinion, so why is it so difficult to respectfully agree to disagree, and contribute either limited or extensive advice, to those that are genuinely interested in bait and seek help Is this brash demeanor predominantly "carp bait related", or widespread within all genres of angling ?

PS: Mark Mckenna and not MK(Mck)

Reflective of modern society really isnt it. “You are entitled to your own opinion, as long as its the same as mine, if not youre clearly (insert whatever it is this apparently makes you)”

That's right humans are tribal by nature and once part of a tribe it takes a lot to get them to switch to another tribe. Politics is the same and gettingt worse. Social ( or anti social) media reinforces this tribalism and confirmation bias is reinforced when all your media input comes from the same slanted viewpoint.

At the present state of our knowledge, bait is an inexact science. Unlike tackle.

If you wanted to know the best rod, reel, line or hook for a specific purpose, it would be relatively easy to find out the best option on the market or a small number of options. And few people would get into a fight over it.

Bait is different. Until someone is able to determine exactly what it is that the carp would most like to eat on any particular day of the year, this subject is wide open to doubt, guesswork and squabbling.

I don't know how it's over there but in Belgium people can get very jealous and be nasty when some other is catching more/bigger carp.
On the public venues, some claim pegs and dump a mass of baits on it when you're fishing their peg.

For me, it's all a hobby (carp fishing and bait making).
I've got some thoughts and ideas that don't match with others but that's the beauty of it. Everyone is entitle to his own opinion.

People communicating on a respectful manner impact my thougtproces more than others. A respectful discussion/exchange of experiences is more fruitful than calling names!

Supposed to be Mck or Mark Mckenna

It´s a f**king boilie for carp to eat, ffs Why so much aggro .. low testosterone levels or too much Stella ? Resentment and self pity are anger misdirected, in ways that are not helpful & often harmful. Gotta have thick skin or ear plugs

Mark had some pretty good baits when he ran Baitcraft, awhile ago, but wonder why he decided to throw in the towel to become a PT

Why does a simple discussion about bait, cause such upheaval at times, causing folks to fall out, bigtime

Bait is many things to different people, as you mention in your bullets, to some they are just round balls that cost a £5 KG (seen as idiots by baits buffs) to others it's a way of life, a passion (see as ********s by idiots because they think they know it all). When you spend so much time at this, convince yourself backed up by your results, it's probably hard to convince some people any different and that's understandable for me

Different world now and a lot is on the table for everybody to see, however, a lot of the old school anglers know their stuff and believe in it, your try and tell them anything else

And then there are those people who fund their livelihood from it, that's very personal, think about it £
Are you sure?

This action cannot be undone.
