So many variations available now so thought I'd ask what's everyone's preference and why, please include size and loaded weight if you know it, choice of rod and line preferences. Trying to build a reference for anyone not sure what will best suit thier needs.

Daiwa Powermesh 4.5lb spod rod.
Shimano Arelex 10000 spod reel.
0.10 Spectra braid with a 25lb Armacord leader.
Medium spomb with float.
4oz medium sized Spopper.
Cut down baiting feeder from Turbojohnboy.
Korda finger stall.
I use this for my Barbeling as well as occasional Carp trips. Didn't want to spend mega money on an outfit I'll not be using that often. Happy with what I've got.

Alright goose I'm still on the syndicate that you know ...so most my fishing is done 110 to 130 yds...

I have the dream maker spod rod, great for leading around too, quite like it. I also have the Shimano ultegra spod reel, GoOutdoors bargin. 50lb armacord leader and the Daiwa J braid following Chuffy's recommendation on here
I use the orignial spombs, all sizes, will never use a spod again
Wished I had left it at home this weekend, thought I would put a bed of pellet down for some instant attraction, some large bream in said venue and a lot of silvers, thought to myself if I get these going the carp might come along,wrong answer, try again. Knew I should have fished for a bite and left the baiting gear at home lol

Seems the spomb is the tool of choice, thought the tfg/prologic airbomb would have been popular for putting out a spread of bait or are they unreliable.

I bought a few of these when they were selling off cheap but to be honest I've never used them. They seem well made enough. It's still midi or large spomb for me. Used the spider / x Spod for a bit as it's good for sloppy mixes but just prefer the way the spomb flies.

I have been using the smaller of the two airbomb for putting out spreads of boilies i just clip up around 3-4 rod lengths short of the spot and find them quite reliable, the trick is to cast a little harder than you would with a spomb or spod and not to overfill so it can release better.
The downside to the smaller airbomb is the payload which i would say is slightly less than the medium spomb

It works well and weighs 4oz ish with boilies so I use it up to 100 yards with a standard carp rod when gulls are a pain. Reason for the thread was I've just bought a longbow spod rod and emblem 35scw reel which I'm hoping will be good for 80yatds and way beyond that and as not used it wondered what type and weight of spod/spomb would be best to put a spread of bait out as the majority of time I won't want to bait up tightly on a small area which I assume a spomb would be good at. Also this thread maybe a useful reference for anyone looking for a settup.

Use a spomb float if gulls are a problem then leave it for 10 seconds before winding back in. They won't drop on the spot while the spomb is floating over it.

JRC extreme shuttle spod rod... Best spod rod I've owned, not too floppy or hard to compress.
Avid XR spod n marker reel... Time will tell if it lasts but its a machine and been great the last 8 months.
Daiwa J braid 27lb with avid 50lb braided shock leader, haven't had any of any wind knots with this braid.
Only use large spombs now if within 60 yards else its normal spods preferably korda.
