As per the title really, what's your favourite combo for the snowman rig. Do you have similar top and bottom baits (eg fishmeal top and bottom), or different (eg fishmeal bottom, fruity topper). And what freebies do you use with them? Has anyone tried the food source toppers that look like corn, Mainline + some other bait makers sell them?

Asking as I've never really fished the snowman rig, and was thinking of sticking it one one rod this year.

Normally a 16mm hardened hook bait (dried out bait with salt) with a 12mm Fluoro popup

I always try to make it as balanced as possible. 15mm bottom with 13mm top or 18mm with 15/16mm top. a 12mm bottom with 10mm top would work too if you wanted a fairly small snowman.

It will pay to play around with combos, I have caught on all sorts but usually start with a more visual topper.

I like mine to be different. So if I was using a fishmeal bottom bait, I'd probably go for a fruity bright topper. If however I was using a nutty/chocolate bottom bait I'd probably go with a fish/crab/squid type of topper.

Probably makes absolutely no difference but I still do it.

I try to keep it close to the food Bait.
So my KMG, krill, mackerel and garlic gets one of my gets a KMG pop-up in either natural or fluoro.

My Infusion gets a Monster Crab in the purple colour.

For an 18mm bottom Bait I tend to go 15mm pop-up as they balance nicely

Usually a 18 mm dark fishmeal and a 12 or 14 mm fruit high vis on top, balanced nothing revolutional but if it works when I'm in the right spot at the right time its good,

I pick my topper based on color. Flavour doesn't matter for me 😆

50% this.

I do have some baits laced with stimulants and triggers I like to use but ultimately that's got nothing to do with how it smells.

I have some that are saturated in a sugar syrup and butyric combo, not to smell like vomit, although, they definately do lol.

Thanks for all responses guys. Has anyone used the Jason Haywood Specials as the topper?
