Looking for waters around Hemel- 20-25 mins max ideally... Clubs or syndicates...
Obviously chance of good fish is preferred!

Not been in that neck of the woods for 20 years or so but there was some good carping on the Grand Union at Kings Langley and many waters either side of Hemel.
Given your range consider Watford Piscators. They had some great waters.
Some good waters around Apsley but sorry I can't remember the names.

Kings Langley AC has a couple of lakes near you at Apsley, from memory so did Boxmoor AC, both had websites/facebook pages.
Bit further but not much you have Harrow AC or as per previous post Watford Piscators.
Nearer my way Leighton Buzzard AC has 3 to 4 lakes to go at all of these and the above are within 25 mins of Hemel.
Loads of syndicates in the Colne Valley but getting on them is the issue so suggest club waters your best bet.

Kings Langley Angling Club. Or as we used to call the main lake ‘Ol Langley'.
Now this place brings back memories. I started fishing there In early 90's, haven't been back for around 20 years now!
The main lake was a great place to fish. Full of bars and weed when I used to angle there. However, it did seem to start getting really silty towards the late 90's due to the nature of the water being fed by inlet.
Nothing massive was in there, but the original stock (probably long gone now) were really dark and good looking carp. The mirrors were really scaley. Also, from time to time it threw up a few surprises. Fish that looked as old as the hills that we didn't know was in there.
The biggest problem about the place (back in those days anyway) was the club was quite anti purest carp fishing. They were a match club. In early 90's they drained and removed all predatory fish from the little lake.
They then stocked it with 100's of small carp around 1-2lb. Towards late 90's the small lake started to struggle with oxygen levels, so they started to remove the bigger stock fish and put them in the main lake. This had a massive negative effect of the old stock in there that subsequently led to a lot of them dying off.
Definitely give this place a look. It's worth a season or two to go at.

Depending on what you want, id probably swerve this place now. I joined it the year before last. Had 72 fish in 5 day sessions kver the course of a month. only 1 over 14lb and they were almost all absolutely battered mouth-wise, to the extent that it was quite sad. I never went bk
Thinking about the type of mouth damage, I presume it is because they are moved over from the neighbouring match lake.

I promised myself I would go back one day for nostalgia reasons. Think I will keep my memories of the place in tact.
Those poor little carp were stuffed in the small lake. They used to get battered. The club fishery management were not all that tbh. It's a shame. I spent the entire 90's angling there. Had some great times.

I would mate. A mate of mine who had fished it about 10 years ago told me to join because it was near my old work. He was pretty shocked when i showed him a few pics of the fish.
It was at least 7, possibly 8 out of 10 that were quite badly damaged

Hello Jamie,
I haven't fished Kings Langley since late 80's, never had a twenty but some dark old looking fish, my brother who is an ‘all rounder' still belongs to the club and informs me they have suffered serious predation in both lakes.

Yeah, from when you fished it, there would have been some lovely old dark fish. Wish I knew what stain there were.
Yet again, shame to hear about the demise of the stock. A real shame.

Hi. Walked past Boxmoor carp fishery last week and noticed it now has an otter fence . No idea if this was a reactive move to predation or they' ve already been done. Canal around Tring now pretty devoid of carp from what I can make out ( I live quite locally and have heard of nothing from the GUC recently). The Tring ressies arenrt for the faint hearted...lowish stock,open and incredibly restricted bank access. LBAC have a couple of local waters..Tiddenfoot and a newish lagoon type venue adjacent to a housing estate. I had thought about joining LBAC for the winter to fish the lagoon,but access is mainly via a locked gate in a layby on a main road, but EVERYTIME I pass it,the gate is blocked by an HGV. Really dont need to be dealing with a driver Ive just woken up lol. They also have Rackley Hills..a nice secluded fishery literally 200 yards from Browns Angling. Used to be a fishery called Pixies mere at Bourne End , but not heard anything about it for years.
