Would appreciate any opinion on whether there are better options than the Free Spirit CTX for 12 foot / 2.75lb rods at the moment. A set of 3 comes in at just under £400. Thanks in advance.

If you can get to the Tackle Box in Dartford I would compare the CFX 12ft 2.75.

Extremely light \ slim. You won't find lighter or slimmer for the money.
Semi Progressive - Fast Taper.
TC lighter than stated IMHO.
Finish is different. (Marmite)
Quality Control an issue with FreeSpirit. Make sure you see\check them.

I don't have the 2.75,I got the 2.5tc...but..

Anyway,I can pass on something, and that is the reel seat,I mean when the reels are screwed down handtight they work loose sometimes,it's not an issue,nor would it detract from the enjoyment of the rod and low tc...I like my CTx very much,don't cream up the screw too tight either, or you'll override the seats threading,ie stuck reel...

I agree with post2,The Tacklebox rods are superb,also their customer service is too.Freespirit customer service is very hit and miss which matches their rods

What are the cfx rods like mate do you have some? I've been looking at getting a set of 10ft made up just don't want to regret it

For that budget I'd go for the Tackle Box rods. I don't think they can be beaten on the quality/performance/price issue and you get the bonus of 5 star support and service. I own 4.
