How long do people keep sleeping bags folded in bedchairs for? Is it all the time or just to and from the venue ? Currently use an RLX6 and the bag (winter or summer) stays in there all the time. Unsure if prolonged squashing knackers the bag ..opinions please!

I have apways left my bag on the bed and never noticed any adverse effects. Have worked on the basis that if it survives the compression of a stuff sack that it should be fine on the bed (apthough accept the there will be certain parts under more pressure from the bed).

As long as its man made fibre should be fine but don't do it with natural down.

My bags been on the bed for 5 or 6 years no probs. I should maybe think about washing it......nah.

Yep leave on all the time as well, just give it a quick shake /rustle to fluff the fibres up again before sleeping...

As long as it's not filled with down it will be fine.
Compressing synthetic sleeping bags like most used for fishing will degrade faster than down...down is able to migrate and then re loft where as synthetic fibres simply compress hence becoming less able to insulate.
What's the other option, cram it it in a stuff sack? They are made to be stored compressed

Unfortunately for synthetic that's their downfall, most Down bags have hanging loops designed to hang in say a wardrobe ( if you've the room etc), better quality bags also come with large cotton storage sacks to try and prevent down degradation. Synthetics have a shorter lifespan compared to down, plus they are much cheaper so degradation is easily overcome by purchasing another bag!!

As others have mentioned..try not to keep any synthetic sleeping bag permanently rolled up either in a stuff or compression bag as it damages the fibres which affect the loft and insulation properties..
I keep mine ,out of the bags when not planning to use them,that's a junglebag,softie 9 and my old ,years old ,original aqua sleeping bag,that bag is still viable,as I don't store it folded or rolled up..

Another factor that may have a bearing on this is the amount of use it gets. I use my Nash Indulgence at least a couple of times a month so it gets a good shake out and have no problems with creasing or thin spots. It's left folded up tight in my van for storage.

I've got synthetic camping sleeping bags that are 10years old and permanently kept in stuff sacks and can't say I've ever noticed any issues with them. I do fold and roll rather than stuff and they are the cheaper Vango type bags though not your £200 RABs so the filling may not be as sensitive to abuse?
Can understand how folding a bedchair bag in the same place time after time could cause an issue though

I also keep my 5 season bag in the Superking size of one of these when it's not on the bedchair

It's pretty big so the bag unrolls slightly to fill the space and not really under any compression

I still use a Sundridge Heat Control bag, it came with two bags, a smaller stuff sack and a massive storage bag. I tend to just leave it in the larger bag all the time, so it's not under any compression.
