As title I need a new mattress, made the mistake of googleing and there are so many all with supposed great feedback so whats good or should be avoided.

Totally defendant on the person, I suffer with a bad back from heavy work and bought a decent one online and found it made my back worse and I needed a firmer bed.
I went to bensons for beds and tried them in person and ended up buying one from there and have been very happy with it to be honest.

I was impressed with the one I got from Warren Evans, I'm not sure it's the same company now tho, I picked mine at a shop in Clapham but now they're online only
Heard lots of horror stories about simba and Emma mattresses, I'd avoid them personally

I have an Emma mattress and it's very comfortable not had any problems with it.

Most of the memory foam delivered-to-door jobbies (they're all the same for the most part) have a 100 night trial offer buddy. Worth taking advantage of this as we didn't rate the two we tried at all. One was an Eve and I can't remember what the other one was.
We ended up buying a Sealy Posturepedic after sleeping on one at a mates house. It was that comfy we ordered one the following morning. Miles better than the memory foam jobbies.

We went and tried a few mattresses out a couple of years ago and chatted to the salesman who said "remember you spend a third of your life on average in bed. Try them all out take your time and lie on each for at least a couple of minutes." we were in that shop for 3 hours and plumped for the one with the British sheep because my Mrs loves animals. Wasn't the cheapest but it has been the best mattress we have ever slept on.

As Yonny said, quite a few firms do 100 day trials, well worth using it as all the blurb in the world means nothing until you've tried 1 for a few weeks. We had one (might of been the Emma) after about 2 weeks both the Mrs and I started getting shoulder and hip ache so back it went. They did try to offer us a 1/3rd refund to keep it.
Our main bed is now a 4G Aircool Titan, very comfy, but also very high on a standard bed.
Not all MF are breathable, beware, it can make you very hot at all times of year. Our 1st MF mattress is still the comfiest we own and the Mrs family after they've stayed over have changed to MF from spring/airpockets.
Can't remember the name of it at the mo but it is a named 1.

Cheers everyone, went to a shop and found one I liked, googled it and ordered online with next day delivery and collection of old one saving near £400 on the shop price.

The shop I went to is not in town its on an industrial estate, would think the overheads are a lot lower.
