There was talk of a replacement cap being available to slow them down, I just robbed the thick felt washers out of some other daiwa reels to slow it down.
You tune it to your taste that way, I haven't settled on a combo yet, sometimes I'll have 1 felt, other times 3 but mostly 2 felt washers in mine. The daiwa ones look a lot thicker than the weston ones

If the spool overran causing loops in the braid then your drag was too loose to start with. I have these reels and they don't go from free running to locked up in one click either, it's a little more than that. Just set your drags and then use your finger on the side of the spool to add tension

Are your entohs the original or qd?
I've been swapping washers between the emblems and original entohs, it improves both reels (for my taste at least)
The caps also seem interchangeable but I haven't fully tested that

Anyone have issues when fishing tight drags/semi locked up?, rain/water making them overtight so no line can be taken at all? Think the washers might swell

You can change your drag knob from QD to QDM

It will change drag from 1/4 turn from open to closed to 3/4

Ooohhh ,shall I pop your toys back into your pram for you? Well as I said I use those same reels, have done for around 18 months now and have landed countless fish upto 122lb using them with no problems at all. Maybe I'm very lucky. But maybe you really are a Noddy....
Your reels haven't cost you either of those fish, you not using them properly has

I agree . Must of had it to loose to get a over run and spillage.
Mine are fine 1/ 4 turn from free spool to locked .
Edit - what braid were you using to get cut off twice ?

That's too light for the situation IMO.
You should be matching the mono diameter you'd use and in that situation 18-20lb mono wouldn't be unheard of. That's 65 or 80 lb equivalent PP

I've taken 2 of the red plastic drag washers out and replaced it with a felt one or two I bought off e Bay. There's another post on here somewhere that details exactly what to do. I find the drag perfect now

Never had a problem with these reels either or the likes of original SS3000's from when they first came out.
