Hi, I can't find my license for love nor money, I am sure it expires around Sept does anybody know if there is a way to check??

Surely when you bought your license you provided an email address to which they sent an emailed copy.
Failing that ring them up, when you go on their website and click to buy a license contract details can be seen at the bottom of the page,

Not much help now, but take a picture of it next time and keep it on your phone, jic you forget or lose your license/club ticket

Even if you've bought a licence it's still an offence to go fishing without it, or at least without some proof of purchase. But, once you've received your licence, you can't then use that proof of purchase after you've lost or misplaced your licence.
You need to apply for a replacement. You can then use a receipt in the interim to go fishing until your replacement licence arrives.

I've been caught without my license on me and they just typed my details into their little hand held thingy, checked I had one, and off they went without mentioning this.

Yeah I'm sure, mate. It's down to the bailiff's discretion if they book you. 9 times out of 10 they won't book you if they know you have bought a licence. But, there will always be that one bailiff who does things by the book and will book you for fishing without your licence.
Like I said previously, the only time it's legal to go fishing without your licence is during the time you're waiting to receive your new licence

I know of a lad who was booked for not having his licence on him. He left it at home. I also know of another lad who was booked for minding his mate's rods when he went for a number 2!

I was told by a volunteer bailiff that as long as you can prove you are who you say you are, eg, photo driving license, they won't have issue with you.

Just a heads up, but in the past I've had a reminder email that my license is near to expiring. This year I didn't!
It was only reading this thread made me check... I've been fishing the last three weeks without one. All paid for now and receipt email on my phone.
Might be worth you all having a check.

However, it's still an offence to not carry your rod licence when fishing. So, if the bailiff is on a power trip, he/she is well within their rights to book you.
If you don't believe me have a look on the gov website, or just read what's on your licence
