Anyone know if bait screws can be used with cork ball pop ups, or are we still tying them on?

For corkballs tie them on.... if you screw one on and crack off for any reason your leaving a live rig in the water.

I do use screws but for pop ups and wafters only

I'm confused.com by that statement if you tie it on and crackoff is it not a live rig anymore?

Depending how well they are rolled bait screws are fine for corkballs. Only issue I've found is leaving them out for more than 24 hours isn't really doable, where as when tying them on you don't have to worry.

I'm more confused by the fact that it's only cork balls that are live after being cracked off. Pop ups and wafters aren't live if they are cracked off?

I have two types of bait screws, the small metal ones and the plastic cork screw type which are thicker. Do you guys use the metal type I guess?

I think he is referring to leaving something non-biodegradable (over a realistic time period) attached to a rig, i.e. the actual corkball itself. If tied on the paste would swell/ be pecked off/ disintegrate over time and the hookbait would float out of the floss loop, leaving a bare rig. By using a screw the corkball itself would remain on the rig even after the paste has gone. Quite how attractive would be is another question.

I see that, but pop ups and wafters would still remain too. Might end up being pulled off by birds at some point but if not then how long before an airball pop up biodegrades off a bait screw?

Btw I never use screws, I'm just curious to the logic.

They would remain mate but probably not for as long. I'm not sure, just hypothesizing as to the comment. I dont and unlikely will use screws anyway

The screw would rust away
The cork ball would float into the margins anyway and that's wood.
Think of half the other inedible crap in the margins of lakes
Are you sure?
