Hi guys can anyone recommend if a daiwa 20 GS BR LT 5000-c is a good reel to use for spod/marker on a nash dwarf 4.5lb?

It wouldn't be my choice. It'd work fine, if you already own it then yes but there's better options out there.
No need for a bait runner for a start and better retrieval rate and more rugged
There's quite a few spod specific offerings nowadays daiwa cross cast 5.5:1 retrieval, 3BB for £100 odd quid
I'd use any old big pit for spodding if I didn't wanna buy one but if I was buying a reel specifically for that then I'd get one of the ones

ive used a wychwood dispatch for about 5 years and its never missed a beat.
still use the pre loaded braid with no shockleader, its been brilliant for the money.

Daiwa Emblem S5000T . . .(gold with black baboon arse)
Smaller body than most big pits and you can pick these up pretty cheap . . .line clip is crap but fine if you're using braid / thin mono . . .

Thanks!! I'll have a look into the daiwa emblem the black and gold sounds nice that will match in with my daiwa 2600s to.

A little hack on the line clip - you can order a Nash BP6 Spare spool - they have 2 metal line clips per spool and they are very easy to fit onto emblem spools.

You can easily upgrade the two plastic bushes either side of the drive axle/main gear with waterproof bearings for less than a tenner which smoothes up the reel considerably. I shim the clearance at the same time.
The anti reverse is a bit clunky compared to modern one way bearing reels but there is little that can be done about that.
Silicon lube/polish on the spool rubber helps to stop the two guides that prevent line getting behind the spool from rattling.
They are a proper workhorse of a reel.

Same reel - black cosmetics . . .the og versions of this reel are invincible . . .for a spod rod just lock down the clutch and your away . . .
