Have you got to the point where you don't need to buy any more.tackle, you know, new rods, reels etc? Obviously we all need to buy end tackle when we run out of things.

Just kept on buying, buying and buying. Now got too much and need to get shot of it.

There's a phrase about a fool and his money which sadly applies to me as far as tackle goes!
In my defence I get so little time to fish (by choice - family, work etc has to come first) that I end up scratching ‘the itch' by buying kit and focusing on getting my gear refined down to the exact set up I want that works for short trips and work nights.
It's a standing joke with a couple of pals that my kit has changed every time we meet for a social.
That said I think I'm pretty much there now - all the main items sorted with an upgrade on rods being the final piece in the jigsaw at some point.
Until I get a rush of blood involving eBay at some point that is...

Don't need to buy anything at all,unless it breaks or wears out...satisfied,with my stuff..maybe get rid of a spod/marker rod,and reel,never use it...

It's amazing the amount of stuff you have to buy to scale down even further and keep it simple

Only changes I make are age and lifestyle related.
Like an insulated bib and brace this year.
Swapped an old heavy long session two manner that

Problem with your post is the thread title says 'happy' but your question says 'don't need'
Is there such a thing as 'don't need'...hmm 'don't want' might have been better.
I haven't bought a item of tackle for around almost 2 years. Can I 'struggle' to get 'by' with what I have
but is there stuff I want....hell yeah

I'm always buying something new, but always buy top end gear, no compromises, ever. So the need to buy new gear isn't so great. Rods I tend to hang on to and very rarely change. Reels I do upgrade now and again, e.g. I recently sold my old Basias and got the new ones. But other gear? Well, I sold my Delkims and got the new ones this year, but everything else stays static until is wears out or breaks. My most recent purchase was a new cradle to replace Godzilla (my Trakker Oval Crib) - bloody thing was taking up too much room in the car and I was fed up wrestling with it every time it came to pack it away. Not much else though, although I did have a binge on clothing this year - none of it from fishing tackle companies (it is all over-priced crap) - mainly Pentagon and Helikon gear. It's consumables where most of my fishing spend goes - line, hooks, leads, PVA, etc... and bait and permits...

I've a spare room and have to rent a container to store other rods and sods I have spare..but happy with what I use...and don't get me started on old school bmx bikes and parts, ill get shot...

If it's not broke don't fix it, complete waste of money. I've wasted thousands over the years like most

Through my late teens and twenties I would sell up, have a few months off then buy everything again, but I would buy totally different. I always had a plan to get to a certain point whereby I would buy everything for the final time, but I would buy only the best of what I had used in the past. That way I would have total confidence in what I was buying. Plus, over the years you get to know what you can "get by" on, so you only buy what you need. I have saved an absolute fortune this time round, which is the last time I buy everything.
Plus, I am a huge advocate of buying second hand. I would rather trust a ten year old 5000T than some of the budget reels of the same price that are coming out now. My theory is, if it has lasted ten years, it will probably last another ten if I maintain it and look after it. Made the mistake of buying brand new pair of Vader reels for my 15 year old Pike rods and I want to set the reels on fire already.

I've got nigh on all the gear i need now. Just the odd bit that pops up now and again that makes things a bit easier, like the new 24v power porter I recently bought. It really, really makes a difference. Can now smoke a tab on the go... winning!
It's taken a while to hone my tackle and get to a place where I think I've got everything covered. Now is the time to get rid of the gear I don't need or stuff that's been replaced for better gear. Feels good man.

I remember quite a few years ago hearing the phrase “Upgrade”. The advertisers dream phrase
So many times people say they are “upgrading”
Let's look at it a different way, you are not upgrading you are just buying something more expensive that does the same job.
