Went to a presentation on new products last night.
Now I know the "So called experts" down here are more full of poo than the subtle social media lovies you guys have to deal with, but..
One did a piece on mono vs braid in flow situations and was stating mono acted like a guitar string and produced a "note" throughout the line and to the rig which essentially put wary fish off the bait and braid is always they way to go.
I've always fished mono, both at range and in flow, but it got me wondering if there's any merit in this?????

interesting dont know about that ?
but I do know from a guy that was underwater in the lake how he can really hear the bite alarms very loud
I know it sounds a bit far fetched but he reckons the line was transmitting the sound from the heads
made me think of the 2 plastic beakers connected by a bit of line that the kids use

Makes you think about when your locked up tight and the winds up and the lines howling!

I'm wondering if mono transmits sound better than braid and weather it creates it
Also 100% on the head alarms transmitting it through the line (false bleeps etc)

Is that why we always gets bites on the rod with the alarm broken/not turned on..
It happens too much to be a coincidence

Luckily I have my heads turned almost off and have the receiver on a lanyard round my neck

I don't know the properties of mono or braid line but water transmits sound well so it's highly likely that the sound was simply traveling through the water.

So floro must be the way to pinned to the bottom? Maybe the makers claims about the invisibility should be change to silent when pinned down. Mind you sound is basically vibration so delkim being a vibration sensor acting directly on the line would create far more noise than a roller buzzer which means with the amount of fish caught using them either the fish don't care or its bunkum. Uuuummm.

That may be true, but as the fish is already hooked does it matter?
How many times does the second rod fished on the same baited spot go off soon after? If their having it their having it. Fish make noise when eating bait which is supposed to attract other fish to the spot. So many variables to contend with.

Had two last weekend within an hour of each other. First one was about 2am. The lines were that tight and locked up you could play a tune on them. I was only 14 rod lengths out and in 17ft of water and 20lb mono.
Fished slack lines and tight lines for many years. I can't say it's ever made much of a difference either way to be fair.
I do think that braid is far too dangerous to fish with and should be outright banned. You only have to get a few rod lengths of it, throw it in the edge scrunched up to see that it's a death trap.

I do have braid on my distance reels, which i rarely use anymore.
But seeing the trouble i observed an angler had pulling for a break on braid the other week puts me off using it.
He had to wrap braid around a branch and then it was like tug of war, i thought he was going to end up attaching it to his tow bar.
Then the swivel on his rig was the thing that broke not the braid!
