Is it me or is carpology just become boring? Adverts and they seem obsessed with the past nothing wrong with a bit of carp history don't get me wrong. The articles I just find mediocre?? Oh and it's gone up in price!

Sounds to me like you could do with buying a new book to read. Have you ever read Tiger Bay?? Even if you have, give it another read. It is like fishing remedy on paper. Or even something like Savay Chronicles.

Yes, I got the subxcription because of the bait deal but I have a backlog of about four months worth of magazines to read. Even with a lot of time on my hands.
They are going the right way in terms of design of the magazine but unfortunately most of their feature article writers are really boring and cliched. It is hard to make the capture of a 50lb+ English carp seem dull but these guys have found a way.
Notable exceptions for Simon Scott, who is amazing, and also read a couple of articles from Terry Dempsey that I enjoyed that were published around March, (not sure if Terry is a regular yet as I have a backlog).

I agree that the majority of the content is quite dull. I do enjoy Harry Way Barkers diaries as is a cross between fishing and fishery management which I find interesting. Simon Scott is a great addition and I don't mind Adam Penning's writing. My subscription is due to expire soon and without a deal that interests me unlikely to renew

Glad I'm not the only one - a book - good idea 💡! 😉. I do believe there is room for a better carp magazine especially as there is no carp world on the shelf. I won't be buying carpolgy again at £5.50 a go - even there product reviews are biased as they are paid by the tackle manufacturer - they never have a bad word to say about anything!

The mags have been going downhill for years, hence they are disappearing one by one. There's only so much they can put in them really, how many articles on how to tie a pva bag, or how to tie a hinged stiff rig, or whatever do we need. They mostly seem to be full of session diary style pieces which tbh bore the hell out of me.
Agreed. The reviews also frustrate me as they just repeat the marketing spiel from the company rather than actually reviewing. In mountain biking mags that I also read they give meaningful reviews and group tests. Nothing like that in the carp mags.

I've always preferred books to magazines personally, there's plenty of fishing books available on Apple Books if you fancy them. Believe there's a full list on the forum

Would be interesting to know how many units they shift per month.
If they put the content on Youtube each month and monetized it they would achieve a far wider audience. I would happily pay a few quid a month for several hours of content.

I will only buy carpology if a can get a book or bait deal then it pays for itself.

They mentioned in the latest issue, (200th anniversary one) that they probably don't expect to be in printed form in the next couple of years. Sad but true, (Carp Addict, Carpworld, ACF, and a couple more have all disappeared).

I did buy the hardback copy they were recently selling for £20 and only 200 copies, maybe collectible in years to come.

I agree, I have a sub that's is due to run out later this year (thanks to free bait deals)
Much prefer Total Carp, find it much more practical with regards to tips etc, I find carpology a bit dull now, never end up reading the full issue which is a shame really as I much prefer print media over online.

If you have a short attention span yeah go for total carp i like it to YouTube everything is short and broken down into little sections. Carpology articles are for people with a reading level above a five year old who can actually sit and read an article lol. Don't say I don't have time for that as it doesn't wash lol
