Hi All,
I am looking for some recommendations on some brolly systems im thinking these due to the easy of putting them up and taking them down on quick overnight sessions.
Currently i only have a 2man bivvy which is way to big and a pain in the back side to put up alone on a 24hr session.
I have had a look at the Fox R series brolly system which is just under £200 but cant really find much about it other than a few mentions of them leaking. Is the Ultra much better?
Ideally i didnt want to spend a fortune as i really dont get out much anymore but need something more suitable for one.

I would stay well away from fox brollies,it would either be the tempest v2 brolly,wychwood or the new sonik range

I had a look at the tempest but it starts to get quite pricey when you add in the Front infill then the ground sheet think its works out about £350

Stay away from fox they had big problems with brollys tempest wont t cost £350 around £280 wait for ten per cent even cheaper

Have a look at the cyprinus dpm fast and light very cheap believe you can get the brolly for around 150 or brolly and wrap for about 250 basically re badged aqua

I have a couple of brolly and overwraps.
The first which I have used for a few years is the TFG Oval and overwrap, I think it is £80 for the brolly and £90 for the overwrap.
It has been my first choice for years, gets used and abused, carp in summer and pike fishing in winter.
The oval brolly itself has storm sides so you do get additional protection. Then obviously in the winter if you carp fish or do do overnights you have an overwrap.
You have a choice of just using the front storm poles, side storm rods (I think is that way around) or both, so it is stable.
The only reason I updated is 'I have the money I'll spend it'.😳
My latest choice is the Rod Hutchinson Cabrio Hybrid brolly complete system.
As standard it has storm sides on the brolly. You can extend the porch, and obviously have various choices of mozzy mesh, proper zip door etc .
Price on that is a whole lot more, in the 00's.
Believe it or not, unless you really want to spend bucket loads, I would say stick with the TFG.
And as for those who ain't convinced, when Matt Hayes left TFG and Dave Lane joined them, quality went up. The quality on the oval is darn good.

A aqua fast and light i would suggest is ideal for quick overnighters, to put one up takes 30 seconds and then a few pegs, it doesnt have to have poles linked or anything, it fits in a quiver alongside a landing net if you leve the bag at home. I have side panels for mine and an overwrap is available if you want to use it in the winter. I use storm poles as well if neccesary and its rock solid. Cyprinus do a version too, which i believe is cheaper. I own a tempest t100 also and i would take the F&L every time if i was thinking of mobile approach. I also owned a fox supa brolly, which is similar in principal but was heavier and a bit bulkier to carry. still a very nice brolly though, had a few more bits like zip in front panel etc. the fast and light is quite minimal and stripped back. I absolutely love mine for the ease of use.

I have a cyprinus rapide which I think is based on the fast & light... it's ok for the price but it started leaking after a year of light use. Compare that to an original 60” Aqua Brolly I've had for nearly 25 years and that had hard use and still doesn't leak... I'm not sure what that says except that quality has obviously deteriorated over time - obviously being made in China hasn't helped - I have a tempest v2 brolly (got that with infill for £230 from Danson Angling) and that seems ok based on minimal use and is lighter in total than the cyprinus brolly. If price is a factor go for Cyprinus but the jury is out on its longevity.

If your small and nimble the standard hide will be ok
