I wondered around the huge wind swept pit looking for any signs of my quarry. After 7 laps and nearly 40 miles later - I hadn't seen so much as a bubble, so I hunched behind an autumnal bramble bush and spodded out some veterinary chemicals before retreating to a reed lined fringe to watch. Within minutes, there were most of the lakes stock of scaley bangers rolling and spawning over my careful placed pre bait.
I quickly put my sticks in a tied up three rigs, 2 were on a new self hooking gizmo, the other a static line treble. Within 3 hours I has landed my uk personal best common three times! The first time the self hooking gizmo hadn't sprung, the second time it was sprung and the third time I managed to land a leviathan on a 12foot 7lb breaking strain zig. It certainly paid to ring the changes and react to what was happening in the plot.
41lb of old English common carp was held up for the cameras, I managed to get some underwater footage of the zig. A real redletter day. It was the only fish I had but practice landing it three ways and to get some footage for sponsors and my YouTube channel was a morning I'll never forget.
I just sat there with a few twigs boiling up my Kelly kettle buzzin. I'd had a few texts from mates and bait suppliers, so just whiled away the next couple of hours weighing up the offers before I decided on what bait I would publicise catching it on. The guys turned up and we pulled the sling from the water - holding her up with sponsors present was a great moment. As I slipped her back - minus the hook this time she just stayed quietly in the margins before a flick of the tail and she was gone (followed by Diver Dave).
It almost quite sad as I sit here now - a hat trick of lifetime memories achieved. Without a regret I put all my tackle up for sale and made plans for my next calling, but for now GET IN

Assume money. Plus he was doing a fair bit with Alan Blair for his fishery in Thailand so that may have had an influence

Not sure that's the case. I listened to a podcast somewhere with him on (might have been Nash) and it didn't sound like money at all. From memory it was more like creative direction/ job satisfaction/ personal relationships.
