I've had fish that come in like a plastic bag and I've had fish that fight hard. In 30 years I've had two hook pulls that resulted in having part of the fishes lip on my hook now it's hardly a gentle sport and that upset me however in my book that's pretty good. The fish was more than lively. I could have bullied the fish in and managed steer it clear of the potential snags it tried to get into.

To judge me without even being there is madness I was surrounded by good anglers and no one stated differently than well done. No issue with hook hold. I was always taught that you should allow the fish to tire itself out., can't help the fact this particular fish was awesome.

I don't want to be rude probably not very good at considering my approach personally I think that time it takes to get a fish in depends on the fish and situation. My Grandad father played an 18lb Salmon for just under an hour.

I've edited it just any case some took it seriously

After 6 weeks of trying to order the rods through the tackle company here in the us, I contacted Johnson Ross and they shipped 2 free spirit es over for me (great customer service shipped on the Tuesday was here on the Thursday) and another month of blanking I finally got to us them this weekend. Had 4 fish a 20 and 2 doubles that all fought really hard and I can say how impressed I was with them they was a pleasure to use and made my old 10 foot Sonik rods feel like broom handles. Thank you for everyone suggestions and input, I'm so pleased with them you can see and feel the quality and my casting seems to be more accurate we then haven't used them above 60 yards so can't comment on casting distance.

surprised to only find one mention of the FBS, super rods right up to the 3.5lb TC - don't be put off.. it's all about the action

Hi, hope its ok to resurrect an old thread. This is exactly how I feel with regards to the rods I'm trying to find to replace my 24 year old armalite mk2's. They've gotten springy and I want something that has a bit more poke lower down. 12ft 2.5 torrix looks like a contender.

Maybe the Harrison Ballista is worth considering

I have 4 Century NGs 2.75lb and they are perfection in terms of players rods great snag fishing rods too
had a great deal of big fish on them up to 68lb the action is superb

If you are after players rods on harrison blanks forget torrix. You need to be looking at accurix ballistas or multi carp range.

I got 12ft 2.75lb NG's myself after having SP's for years.

I loved them, perfect for putting a 3oz lead over 100metres (!), and for playing fish on.

If I hadn't stupidly snapped the tip of one in the car door I'd still be using them.

I have Torrix 12' 2.25 as my barbel weapons of choice and they would def make good players rods . . .
