Baitboats being 'cheating' is the modern day 'bite alarms are cheating'. Typically from the same blokes who think that because they've fished for XX years, are instantly better than everyone else.
Fish however you want, respectfully, safely and have fun. Don't let some old wrinklies ruin that.
FYI - haven't ever owned a bait boat, can't see that ever changing. Much prefer the satisfaction of casting myself.

FYI I have owned and used 5 different bait boats never used one in this country all mine were used in very large lakes in France at ranges impossible to cast too

The difference between the hair rig and the Heron bite alarm to the latest GPS, Sonar, camera blah, blah, bait boats is enormous, if we carry on like this what if technology in the future gives us a device that catches you a fish say every 20 minutes, or any desired time interval that you have selected, would that be a good thing?
After all it's about catching isn't it?

I have just bought one (ND2 Bait boat) for a france trip this year.
All the tickets i have for the UK have bait boat bans in place, so wont affect my fishing here. I may take it out as a novelty on socials if there is a chance to use it.
Its not the bait boats that are the problem in my eyes, just the idiots who use them in desperation or unsafe conditions, with a catch at all costs approach.
Strange on how so many people call it out on here but weren't doing the same when Terry the messiah had the parrot

Plenty did call him out for it, fact is a bait boat with sonar, GPS plotter ect is a short cut to finding spots, makes it easier to place a rig on the spot and to bait up around it. Personally I don't see how anyone could get the same satisfaction doing it that way as someone that does it without the boat. I'm not against them as has been said here already, do your own thing and let others do theirs. So long as you follow rules, treat carp in a safe way and don't jeopardise them angling of others, fish in the way you find pleasing and fun,

However. When people are trying to claim fame from a capture you could say that is a different story, put it out to the people, they will pass judgment

The great and good as you put it fish for whatever can get them a bit of attention
Most genuine carp anglers that I know just go about their business, it's about the fish, not trying to get their face recognised

I'm anti bait boats for my own reasons, although if someone is disabled and can't cast I have no objections.
Years ago I owned one and found my 'competitive' edge found me putting baits far to close to snags, right under trees on an island, where alder tree roots were a problem. When I had to go out in a boat to retrieve a snagged fish I stopped using it.
