. . .I liked it . . although contradictory I thought he came across as confident, amusing and had a stories to tell . . .a character and not like a lot of the current set of dullards selling the latest wonder rig / bait / cuddly toy . . .
Maybe its also because we weirdly have a lot in common . . .same age / grew up in same area / are both rave casualties (anyone who was 18 in 1989 and wasn't into raving around the M25 corridor - where were you?) . . .I never fished Savay but drunk in the H&B . . .never fished the amazing waters he did either (other than probably Farlows / Little Britain) so found the podcast interesting and relevant . .
Fairplay to Korda to for these Podcasts - simply the best carpy content out there at the moment IMHO . . .whatever your opinion / standpoint, they spark debate which is always a positive thing . . .

I remember when he got kicked off this forum a few years ago, by Beave, I think, for badmouthing the forum and members.
He kicked off because someone caught the Burghfield common very early in their campaign and bad mouthed the bloke because it wasn't "as deserving" as Terry's (Hearn) capture. Some of the forum members at the time challenged his comments and boy, did he spit his dummy.
I don't remember the things he said, but I do recall he was obnoxious, abusive and likened us to little boys who were only concerned about looking the part, in reference to the tarty tackle thread which was quite popular at the time.
Seems like he hasn't changed much since then.

. . .I think he resonates with those of us from this generation (GenX) . . .especially in terms of our respective childhoods, the freedom we had a the time, and our pathway into fishing in general - its shaped many of us in similar ways lol . . .

He does come across as a pretty angry guy, which simply is an ill fit with his claims of spirituality and Buddhist ideals. His
anger may well stem from a grievance over where he really is in life and his dismissal of normal anglers that he doesn't know (which includes most) as lesser beings is another example that he does not understand spirituality. I think he is confused..

Talking of Regan, he's just been in court and fined £700 for illegally fishing on the Broads, and being abusive to Police and EA officers.
...shall we expect the same character assassination, or do we pick and choose who gets it?

I thoroughly enjoyed Nicks Podcast and he hits the nail on the head so many times was a good watch, Pete Reagan is my favourite to date that had me in stitches and its amusing that he happened to be the broads Angler

Refreshing totally frank unapologetically honest account given free of pre-emptive agenda shackles that set this podcast ahead. Nick has lived the dream for real and therefore will arise the greenmonster tainted views more so than others. I'm interested in what he will do now and in the future to fire further angling years with such driven genuine passion.

I would like to see Peter given the chance to explain the circumstances that lead up to his court appearance, yes he was poaching and yes he was abusive to the police and EA officers but, they actually rammed his boat, broke a landing net and got all of his lines tangled around there propeller.
The judge who found him guilty had no choice because Pete admitted to poaching and swearing but commented that he understood him getting upset because he was severely provoked by the actions of the authorities.
Be funny if Korda had him back to tell the full story it's hilarious.

Bit harsh Mr Magoo but that is your opinion I thought it was great the way he come across but I'm also the same age as Nick but from a totally different end of the country but can relate to so much he says! but as you also say Pete Reagan story of the Broads would be brilliant

I really liked nicks interview and I can see how he's marmite to the angling world, but most of the angling “stars” have the same effect!
Penning pecky sharpy Dave lane etc all have fans and haters. I watched it and thought fair play for living your life the way you want to mate but I see an edge of regret in his eyes and he mentioned that if his life had been different he may have had more money meaning that perhaps scraping by on consultant fees isn't the way to perhaps afford other things in life he may want to do or have done. In nicks head he thinks that he was the first to fish certain venues across Europe etc and he mentions pioneering in his articles in the past but let's be honest here, joe Taylor, Alan Taylor and people of that era did it 20 years before him and his mates maybe even 30 years!!
