I think lockdowns forse them to make such a decision. A lot of services switched to paid subsriptions because of this. Thank god youtube is still free and content there is not worse
I don't think it's a bad idea to provide paid services. Creating of media content takes a lot of time, we need to learn to appreciate it more. What I'm leading to is that It's better to learn how to earn more and spend wisely than to save on everything. A lot of online sources like playlouder.com helped me to control and double my savings. Highly recommended.

I think it comes down to, should they not be getting paid for their work? plenty of their stuff is available free, once or twice a year paying a monthly sub and having a binge is probably quite good value.
