What makes YOU think 'the forum' thinks it's a major player?

The forum is just a platform, like Facebook, Twitter etc

If you are referring to the people using it, there are many users on the site.
Not all would fall into the 'thinking they're a major player' category. There are some users who like to think they know more than others...look up from your screen and you'll notice that's life...people like that are everywhere. I guess it's easier to confront those people via a keyboard than real life though eh?

I should probably point out that no players are major in Carp Fishing...it's a past time we all enjoy. It's not as important as scientific / medical / technical research.
Those areas could hold people who would fit major player status...I don't see the likes of Danny F changing the world in the way that people like Elon Musk or Jordon Peterson can.

So I guess it was just a little rant from you because you didn't like a few things that were said...or you're one of those people who like to define CarpForum as 'such and such' just because 1 thread upset you?

I think what is annoying for me is that much of the stuff they have released is objectively terrible, yet there seems to be an almost never ending stream of people jumping to defend it and praise how good it is.

I think what omc needs is something that is unique to them as Nash in the 90s had the oval brolly and titan Aqua had Chris manifold making top quality brollys and bivvys solar had there stainless
And so on They need something new that is there's and no-one has got
Everyone is selling different types of rig cases and hoodies and jackets
And as for wrapping paper we'll say no more

I did think before omc was launched that something special was coming and was disappointed to see what's on offer
People say well Nash made it but Nash was in the 80s a completely different time it was the start of selling carp gear he had the market practically to himself

I dont think there will ever be anything unique anymore. The market is saturated with everything you could ever need now.

It was always going to be clothing that they released as thats what his backer specialises in and obviously already has everything set up in his chinese sweat shops to churn all this clothing out. The last thing we need is more clothing, you would think its a fashion show and people are out on the pull when there on the bank when in reality fishing is probably the uncoolest sport going. Ali just comes across as a clown when you see him on fb or the tv.

Your right look at all the companies selling clothing all the big companies like fox Aqua Nash ta ect ect and there's the budget ones and then the none fishing brands it's a mine field why is omc clothing any different can't see it working tbh

Ali is is a modern day social media/TV "personality" and that works great as a "face" to appeal to a specific demographic .... but i think it is at the expense of angling credibilty when compared to the likes of Nash, Fairbrass etc .... and unfortunately that will reflect the general wider appeal of OMC .... and some of these early products are doing little to contradict this.

I think OMC need a re-brand and will need to bring someone else in to either replace Ali or be the joint face of the company .... A more serious angler who is known for catching fish more than being a personality.

Its all about opinions isnt it .... Tom Dove has the attributes imo but because of Monster Carp would be too close to Ali .... I think it needs a degree of seperation/professional relationship between the two people. It needs someone Ali genuinely respects as an angler otherwise it wouldnt work .... As a business model Ali as "presenter" and other guy as the "expert" .... Ditch the gimmick products is also a must if someone more serious comes onboard.

I watched a few of the korda videos with him , they are obviously very promotion orientated, but there was one with him and some old drunken ex footballer that was just painful to watch, and really quite sad.
fame and the things that accompany it sometimes lead to the ultimate destruction of raw talent, as clearly shown in this particular instance, it was embarrassing to watch.

Crackers would be far better than wrapping paper.
If my Mrs got a set of 12 crackers for the Xmas table...and I got 12 bits of end tackle at Xmas lunch I'd actually like that...although I doubt other family members would be quite so keen...
