I will bet you that this type of thing happens every single day in almost every single county. Only difference is it's not normally filmed and it's not normally 50+.

I don't fish lakes like this and probably never will just doesn't interest me but where I fish anyway fish care is paramount to me and yeah where you live or go to fish there will be people who don't care about fish care what ever fish you fish for.
I've seen people pike fishing and no net or possibly possibly unhooking equipment as well and a lot of these carpers I see on the canal or the public lakes I fish don't have unhooking mats with them at all.

I fish one muppet lake 2 times a year, it opens one's eyes ,

Fished it myself on socials 3 times over a few years. Stunning place, has a bit of everything and has had some nice looking fish in it over the years. The pastime has changed radically and this is just one example of where we are now, banks packed out, screaming idiots (amongst the genuine folk) and lack of the basic fundamentals of the pastime, not just fish care! god I sound boring

Heff ... It´s not about dealing with a "big", alone. Fish care applies to all carp in the lake. If fish care knowledge is lacking, then you should seek assistance, but if you "actually care" about fish safety, then by all means do it yourself, and do it properly.
I too fish alone, and land some "BIG" carp, and handle weighing etc, by myself. I´ve stopped taking selfies of all my captures, but usually weigh & take mat shots, for documentation. I always have my tripod set up, with mat directly underneath, water bucket filled prior to lifting the carp out of the water.
1 - Carp recuperates in the net, in the water, after an adrenaline rush after playing the fish.
2 - Fill water bucket, and wet the mat.
3 - Net handle removed, and recovery sling slipped under the net with carp in it, and zip up sling.
4 - Lift sling out of the water & carefully place it on the mat.
5 - Remove the net, zip up the sling, lift & weigh the carp.
6 - Place sling carefully back on the mat, and unzip the sling
7a - If taking selfies, then organize your camera gear, tripod etc, mat position, should all be setup before step "1"
7b - If you´re not taking any selfies, then take afew mat shots, of both sides of the fish, if you choose to, and make sure you use your water bucket at different intervals.
8 - Place carp carefully, into the recovery sling, zip up carefully and place back into the water, and secure your sling, tied to a bankstick, for the carp to further recuperate, then release when the carp is ready to swim off.
Why is that so difficult to do 
Simple fish care EVERYTIME, so no excuses.
Leaving a large carp hanging in a sling, from a tree branch, unattended, for a prolonged period, is definately BAD FISH CARE
Be reponsible for your actions !!!

I understand what you are saying but is it not for Bluebell to worry about, it's their fish, they don't sound too bothered with what's gone off. If the feedback is true, I'm sure some other places may have banned him

I'm all for fish care. You could argue that all that zipping and unzipping is asking for trouble.
Unhook the fish in the net, get in the water for a photo or at worst break the net down and roll it to evenly distribute the load on the fish. Because as scozza says their organs aren't evolved to take the loads of slings and weighing.
And everyone that is pouring water or on the fish' gills, that's like stamping on your chest while you can't breathe I'd have thought. Given they technically need to pass water the other way to ‘breathe'?
I'm not sure I'd weigh a 40 or 50, anything really. I don't want to know, surely there has to be some mystery left or old fisherman's tales will become a bit bland

My question was more along the lines of why are you posting on here as if everyone else is an idiot, or everyone fishes on a close knit syndicate where everyone knows what they are doing. There are idiots out there, and not sure they really care either way. Can't treat everyone like they are thick based on the lowest common denominator, we aren't the government .

I am fortunate enough to know a few waters that see little action, I guess others do too. Most of the waters in the country everybody knows what is in them and the fish are lacking a lot of credibility for me, a 30 is just a 30, 40 or 50. At one time you were searching for waters (like the great mans book, still searching, what a tile!), nowadays there are loads of waters with said fish in, loads! It's conveyor belt carping too, well managed fisheries where nothing is irreplaceable and there are still loads of back up fish coming through to keep the punters coming, purely and strictly business, nothing to do with the foundations of this pastime sadly, all about the £
