i believe its because trakker changed the design of them and the old square ones go for silly money

It might be because I read somewhere they fit in the front pockets of many barrows? That's what my friend had mine off me for anyway

Surely there are cheaper containers that will do the same job. Some people are just label concious. Fine if you want to waste your money. That's just my opinion. People can throw their money away if they want too.

Yeah there is mate you can get ones on eBay that fit for hardly any money at all, I think I got 3 for £10 or something like that

Seems to me these threads always attract the dreamers and IRT the solar stuff wannabe owners. Its only worth what someone wants to pay and discrediting that and ridiculing in some faint hope it comes back within their budget just seems really sad to me.

Cheers guys! I have a stack of solar stuff that's not been used in years and have the same bobbin set shown below! I never knew it was worth that much - found it a few months ago when I was helping my mother with some house clearing after my poor dad got put into care. To think I'd probably had put them up for sale at around £20. I'll certainly be selling all the solar gear if people are really paying stupid money for it; also got needle bars, monkeys, all sorts of things, even a load of the interchangeable bodies in various colours, which I now see fetch high prices. Should be a nice little earner

I know Mark, it's gone bonkers. I bought a lot of Solar stuff over the years, some of it is over 30 years old, some collecting dust in drawers possibly for 2 decades, but at these prices it makes me wonder if I should let them go.
I also bought a small amount of Solar stuff when they were running it out of shops a couple of years ago, you know the sort you'd not pay full whack for as you didn't really need it but if it was a good price why not. I sold some line clips, have 3 of packs of Fluoro heads I'll probably never use...hmm decisions decisions!
What I would say is have a look at the Solar FB page and include a bit of history with your selling. There have been quite a few 'copies' knocking about, needle systems, early bobbins, stainless Fluoro inserts/caps Kodex being passed off as Solar etc.

I can't help thinking that the odd purchase might be for sentimental value?
