Ignore everything and buy by diameter only (0.32mm/0.33mm = 12lb)

I know I'm getting old (50) but it's quite bizarre to me that these companies think the only way to inform is the likes of social media, in fact just for that reason I may just see my arse (even if it's super skinny now)

We have a 0.35mm minimum b/s on my syndicate. I spooled up with 15lb of the technium vs GT HD and was quite shocked at the outcome.
The technium is just wiry vs the GT HD which is very limp with no stiffness at all

Perhaps Shimano have just started to put the true breaking strain on the spools?
As we all know, most lines are well underrated.The only one I can remember that gave an accurate rating was Daiwa Infinity Duo, it used to state that it was IGFA (?) rated on the spool.
There really should be an industry standard method for measuring bs of lines.

That sums up pretty much my thoughts, I'm not sure what I was expecting but I almost thought there was something wrong with it.

Will wait & see what arrives in the shops, if it's not .32/.33mm will be moving on to a different line.

12lb is .32 in the new released line

Yep - I have received the 0.32mm 12lb and 0.38mm 15lb so can confirm that the diameters as per the Facebook post I linked earlier are what is coming out to shops.

Have you got any idea why the European shops are offering the other diameters, there's no way the U.K market is big enough for its own line?
I rang Johnson Ross the other day, the chap was very helpful but didn't know either.
He measured the 0.405mm with his calipers, it was 0.38mm

The U.K isn't special, can't see Shimano going to the trouble tbh. In any case, make your own mind up from the pic below

EDIT, Shimano Rep confirms as per James post, the europeans can keep their diameters Shame really as I don't like the 15lb in 0.38mm but was willing to give a smaller diameter a go...ho hum.

This conversation about BS/diameter and Tech black has been going on for years, it was he same with the original.

As with all lines, ignore the BS and just buy by diameter.

I normally do but the Technium is bloody aweful in 0.38mm (to me anyway)

Anyway on the advice of Braders (thank you) I bought some ESP Syncro XT and it appears to be a very nice line in comparison to the Technium (to me).

Then the wife comes home and says look what I've got you...yes a bloody spool of 15lb Technium . So if anyone wants a spool of Technium for the knock down price of £20 delivered pm me, it'll shortly be going in the classifieds.

And so endeth my venture into Shimano Technium Black...good riddance

I always find it strange how opinions differ so much on lines - I spooled up with 15lb Synchro Xat and stripped it off after two sessions. Seemed super springy and stretchy to me.
