I've edited my post, I meant get out fishing not get out the house. If you didn't ever leave the house and still bought all that gear I'd be a bit worried

Kind of with you on this - new spangly toys to spend your hard earned on - why not?! I have a rule however in that if I do buy something new I have to flog something old (tackle wise) - this keeps the world in synch and gives me a more solid story when investigated by the gestapo/wife . .

I used to have this rule too, only trouble was, I always found a way of justification to keep it. For instance, my first carp rods 2 x cheapo Nash 2.75lb 12' still in the garage as I've convinced myself I'm sentimental about them. Same as my 2nd/3rd set of rods, numerous reels and most of the terminal tackle I've bought and not used.
My latest justification is my little boy (now 3) might take up fishing so at least he can have my old kit. Used that one when I bought a new pod from MPS to replace a perfectly good MPS pod.
He'll have more kit than me if he does

Thats whats i do as well. I dont just keep buying stuff or i would need a warehouse to store it all. Im always selling stuff then replacing it with new gear, eases the financial outlay as well. Ive actually only got one set of carp rods so in reality dont really have that much gear really as sold all my barbel gear early in the year. I do have a bit of a spinning reel addiction mind hence the latest daiwa exist purchase but got that for an absolute steel from total fishing tackle so couldnt turn it down.

So glad i'm not the only person. Since going self employed with the intention of fishing once a week, then once a month as i got busier. Now it's not even once a year. However do like buying new gear. Want a trip to Johnson ross as need some new rods just can't decide which ones to go for. To be honest doesn't make too much of a difference as they'll just probably stay sat in my tackle shed.
