Fishrite was owned by a guy called Dave Hunt or Hunter, was based near Hindley (Wigan) He actually owned "Hindleys Tackle" at one point, now Angling Direct.
Correct Keith, David Hunt owned Fishrite, I worked for him in one of the lovely old Leigh cotton mills from 2004-2008, worked at BAS Bolton for a while before that and met you several times in the shop, once I remember when Frank Warwick had come to pick up some of your magnetic indicator heads.. We did shows all over UK and tradeshows in Europe and had some great times . We had some good products (and some rubbish ones from before my time, I did try to weed them out!) I'd say 2005-2007 was the peak, but in fairness it was competitive and all the good stuff were variations on a theme from the same China factories as many other UK brands..
Yes David let Fishrite naturally decline as he had taken over Trev's (Of Wilmslow fame) at Handforth and North West Angling Centre at Hindley, which he had for a number of years, both later became Angling Direct.

Good old BAS, think everybody meet up there with it having a Café, quite often I would meet Frank Warwick, Neil smith, even meet Gary Bayes there on route to some show – dropped off a couple of10kg buckets of “Whiskey” base mix.

There was a unused John wilson, masterline Travel avon quiver,on ebay couple of days ago,went for £127..plus postage..
I see complete old skool course set ups sometimes for sale,obviously at one time someone's set up and pride n joy,and they have passed on..
The oldest reel I have is a Nottingham Starback in wood and brass,it still has remnants of silk line on it...
As far as I know ,no one has mentioned Steadfast, I had a lovely canvas stead fast 45inch brolly I got my wife to sew Nashy stormsides on it...
