That's a shame reading that Jay.
I know where you're coming from. Thing is, if you stay away from the likes of YouTube and commercial fisheries, there is a wealth of waters long forgotten that still keep that internal flame burning brightly, or find an inland sea where there's f**k all in it cept a few good-un's and you won't get pestered by the nutters babbling on 'you alright mate, fishing the ronnie mate, you on the krill, nice buzzers them mate, they harrisons?'

Over the last 10 years it's gone absolutely mental. The need for fame, social media bull****, and lakes cashing in on it with monster fish and ridiculous price tags to fish for them £

Its the tackle companies and lake owners who are making all the money

What a carp fishing circus it has turned into !!
We will probably never hear of it, when one of the low key/ under the radar / proper 60/70 lb English carp gets caught.
They do exist, I'm sure. No publicity and all that.

My pennies worth. I don't even view those types of venues or the guys that consider that proper carp angling as even taking part in the same past time as me. It's so far away from what I do and I struggle to relate to it so much that I see it now as a two tier hobby. There's what I'd consider proper carp angling and there's commercial/holiday fishing. They are not the same thing.
It's like motor racing. Lots of guys take their car or bike to a track day. They have a wonderful fun day and get lots out of it but no one thinks it's the same as F1 do they? Both motorsport, but both totally different. Nothing wrong with either. Carp fishing these days is no different. I know a chap who goes to commercial stocked to bursting waters in France a few times a year. He shows me pictures of various 40s-50s-60s. Leaves me cold. I'd take a savay double over any one of those till the day I die.

Same here been out of the game for a few years can't believe the amount of people that are hash tagging all they fish with companies unbelievable I was talking to this lad why he was doing it with sticky baits he said he was sponsored by them so me asking him if he gets free bait his answer was he gets a pound off his bait what has carp fishing come too unbelievable

They have reworded the post stating he caught a fish bigger than the British record. Don't think he has claimed it and would be amazed if it was accepted had it been claimed. As already said, does the record mean anything anymore?

I just read the article about this capture on Carpfeed. It mentioned that the other "record breaker" (lol), Captain Jack, has died. I'm pretty sure the water only opened to fishing in 2014, these are very young fish. Just like the Big Rig fiasco innit, obese to the point of deformity and ultimately death. I guess these premature departures are at least putting them out of their misery.
