When a certain bait goes into lakes I quantities fish know how long they have been there that's my opinion. I am fishing a lake at the moment where I too like someone else on here get better response from topping up with a bait that had this done than straight out the bag hard bait.

It's probably got more to do with the bait being softer, especially as older fish don't have the teeth they once had and prefer softer baits, according to Simon Scott

Would you pour tap water over a carp on the mat?

No you wouldn't and nor should you.

Every lake has a Ph, every lake has a chemical make up and every lake water has its own particular smell, you're just not equipt to smell it properly, some lakes can have more than one distinct make up !!

If you're making a lake specif bait use the lake water you're going to use the bait on to boil them, see above for why.

Give over, tap water is fine. Making sure the temp is not too hot or cold is more important

Bumped this thread because I don't know where to ask...
Tropical fish tank water or tap water to pre soak my boilies?
