Doesn't even need to be just rush hour.
On Saturday's if football was on I would have to leave mine at 1.30 to be at work 15miles away for 3pm. No way to avoid football traffic as that comes into Ipswich from almost every direction.
The 5 miles to the reservoir at any time is 15minutes tops as it is all back roads, nowhere to get snarled up.

Will be interesting, if it is lifted, how they interpret "local"....bearing in mind the "exercise must be for longer than the journey" rule.....my syndicate is 30 miles away, about a 45 minute drive.....

These suggestions cause an issue for any syndicates that supply the nets, mats and slings.
I'll just buy some more so I've one of everything for each member, but this could be a ballache for waters with lots of members.

Many fisheries have dips to minimise the spread of fish disease could the same dips be used agaist Corona Virus? worth looking into as we are told acni bacterial sanitisers with a minimum of 60% alcohol protect us from the virus something similar in the dips?

I saw a now deleted thread which was about a midlands fishery being fished under the heading of "security"......personally as long as it is kept to a minimum, using very local members and is to protect the fishery as a business then i really don't see a problem.
One complex i am on has had some problems during lockdown so have introduced a voluntary bailiff programme. There are 7 lakes on the complex, 1 angler per lake at any time. It is keeping the place trouble free and protecting the stock. This was fully discussed with the local Police beforehand who had absolutely no problem with it at all and said it was perfectly acceptable in the circumstances..............how is this different from a client of mine who operates a builders yard, he's had 2 members of staff in around the clock to protect the business....
There's a lot of self-righteousness being preached at the moment, (generally, not just in fishing) probably by the same people who were climbing over each other to panic buy bog rolls before the lockdown.....

I agree Spod.
I have been for one walk round the lake I fish and guess what, someone poaching. The club was notified and they called the cops but they could really do with having someone there round the clock. In fact it's a no brainer imo.

I can see the sense in people being present for security. Isn't that what bailiffs are for?
Different thing than people just deciding lockdown doesn't apply to them and posting on instagram...
The drive / exercise guideline says that your drive shouldn't be longer than your exercise, not that you should try and match them. It's also based on the guidance that exercise is mobile and active, not sitting by the side of a lake unfortunately....

My syndi is an hour and a half from me, if I then do 24 hours (as a bailiff) is that ok, confusing isn't it?

Wheras the water I bailiff stopped fishing under guidance from the council when the lockdown began 5 weeks ago and is now experiencing poaching. I suggested to the club yesterday that the 7 bailiffs should be allowed to fish on a rota to keep the lake safe, but was told that the council oversee everything, therefore no fishing at all until the country given the go ahead. And the madness of it all is that the lake has 100's of runners, walkers, cyclists etc going around it daily but we cant fish and keep the stock safe.

I'd say that journey is valid if you are going to bailiff for that time - but I'm not the rule maker.
(imagine if I was - that really would be confusing! 'Free cider Wednesdays' could be a big hit - but changing the national anthem to 'You'll Never Walk Alone' might not be so popular...)
As always, there are people with reasonable approaches and those who are just taking the p*ss. And when the vast majority of anglers are itching to get on the bank, there's always going to be some tetchiness when they see that a bailiff is doing a 24 hour session on a deserted lake... (not a dig at you)

It is ok being at the lake to protect the stock but any type of insurance claim for an accident will be laughed away by insurers so I would advise extreme caution, as for people fishing I think its taking the piss.
