its getting a bit more silly now.
I work in the utility sector with electricity so do some work from home and out and about 2 or 3 days a week on site.
My other half is an A&E Nurse running a red zone covid reception at a hospital on the front line ( bless her)
we are both seeing more traffic on the road day on day now as this is essentially week 4 of lockdown and weekends are a joke with obvious visitors to houses near to us and families meeting for lovely times when the sun is out !!!!!!

Yep and people driving like idiots on the quieter roads - I saw a transit van overtaking other cars in a 30 limit last week... as to the fishing, well, a certain lake in the Corringham area (best known for catfish) has been allowing the lockdown breakers in. I guess because it's so close to a lot residential properties they think they can get away with it? Pal of mine did report it to Police - we don't know if they acted though. Incredibly selfish behaviour from the owner and guests alike.

I do not believe that enough cyclists, runners or hikers have “taken a tumble” to delay an ambulance on what are now largely empty roads.

There are not as many ambulances on the road,they have got lots of staff off.Military are being asked to help to drive the ambulances and ex paramedics to come out of retirement too.I know because my father in law is doing exactly that.So it may well not be so unbelievable that they are struggling to keep up with calls being received

As an expat it's very upsetting to hear the news coming out of the UK in the press and on the forum especially the numbers. Some of the press pics of people ignoring the lockdown are shocking and will probably have contributed to extra deaths that should have been avoided.
Wishing all form members good health during these dark times and I hope you all come out the other side.

Don't think for a moment that it's a UK problem only, there's selfish idiots in every country. The idiots in Australia that packed Bondi Beach even after restrictions were in place no doubt caused the needless deaths of many many people. Similarly for Parisians that ignored restrictions until Macron got tough.
The French were hardly doing as requested until Macron threw the toys out the pram and brought in increased fines and the attestation for all travel.

The point was about people ignoring movement restrictions. There's idiots everywhere and they will allow the disease to spread and kill people as a result of their actions. France being an example close to the UK that's been hit hard even though they have ( apparently ) the best health service in the world.
It's not just a UK problem.
As to why some areas are affected more by the Virus there are some theories about as it's obviously affecting some countries much more so than others regardless of their lock downs. We'll have a better idea next year. You'd have expected some highly populated areas to be decimated by it but they have hardly any deaths whilst other cities have been hit hard (New York).

Yet even before coronavirus there weren't enough paramedics and ambulances available.
I think it was earlier in the thread I made the point about seeing a road traffic collision in front of me before the lockdown. One child and two elderly injured. The police were asking for paramedic assistance and were told it was a 2 hour wait. The two police officers and myself were giving first aid treatment once the road was cleared.
Yet even before coronavirus there weren't enough paramedics and ambulances available.
