With the demise of magazines, social media is the primary source of advertising/product placement. I'm struggle to think about any other way I find out about new products

In respect of Scott, he needs some huge credit for what he is trying to do for fishing at the moment. The work he is doing to try and get more young anglers on the bank is a credit. There should be more doing this. Let's hope he can build up the momentum and turnaround the decreasing numbers of anglers

If you ‘don't do social media' then why are you commenting on it? It's literally 99% of most fishing company's advertising these days. Why do you think Ali Hamidi acts like a complete tool and shaves his head like a mental patient? I had to literally block all his posts cos I got sick of seeing him, and I didn't even follow his page! Why do Nash, Korda etc spend a fortune putting out video after video, podcasts, instagram, Facebook, paying people like Scott Lloyd to go fishing?

Influence.

Errrr.....it's a forum???!! And while I don't do social media, I watch quite a few videos and not a single one has persuaded me to buy anything from any of the so called "influenza's" and yes, that's a deliberate spelling mistake....

I get that and post 28 but...and it's a big BUT....I don't think it'll last, and for the sake of the hobby, I hope I'll be proved wrong. Again....another but....the tackle companies are already feeling the drop out from the covid boom..how far will it go....same with the bait companies.

How many of these companies will regret that they're so heavily reliant on social media, are some already? To me there are some companies that haven't gone all in, Gardner, ESP, Main Line...just 'doing the do' in the back ground, the odd 'drop' like they've always done.

To me the boom should be self perpetuating but it's not, just take one look at Faceache, not trendy enough for the youngsters now...who'd have said that 10 years ago. These companies are selling themselves to a fickle lot who'll drop them in a heart beat when the next best thing comes out.

10 years ago the youngsters were already laughing at the elderly (like me) still using Facebook. My kids have never bothered creating accounts for it.

Mine don't use Facebook, they're all over TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat.

I know what some of you mean about the more subtle companies.
I like ESP for that reason. They do pump out some media, but not to the extent of other companies, and it tends to be worth watching when they do.

ESP's content is head and shoulders above anyone else's content for me.

And personally I much prefer their gear for my own fishing. They don't do everything I need, and nor should they, but they are the best company for me in many ways.
Are you sure?
