This is close to where I live and I heard at the time the story was

I just wish we could hang people again it was stopped because innocent people were wrongly hanged

I'd rather see them rot, slowly.

And Nick - your comment about what society is creating. ... look at this thread and how quickly it turned into a 'if it was me I'd.. etc' pissing contest. Any kid reading this is going to think he should be carrying anything between a claw hammer and a matching set of pitbulls.

trouble is they dont rot slowly ?
the truth is with the doo gooder society life inside is a bloody holiday camp with prisoners getting 3 meals a day TV and got knows what all their needs are catered for nothing to worry about all their clothes cleaned etc
enjoying a better lifestyle than some OAP`s AND
when the brother thats still alive completes his minimum 15 years he will still only be 34 !!!

Agree - as a 'civilised' society I don't think stringing people up is the answer; may as well bring back stocks for the village idiot / my scolding missus whilst we are at it (actually that's not a bad idea) . . prison should be enough of a wake up call for the remaining two - that's if they survive
I've got teenage lads and its a fine line bringing them up and setting the right example these days with all the desensitising sh*te that's online . . .thats the real problem IMHO. As a parent you want them to be confident and safe, even in the face of occasional adversity without having to wrap them up in cotton wool; as time goes on I'm thinking I wish I'd done the latter . . .

I'm probably not the best example of society myself, one heck of a temper, been 'warned' a few times by the old bill for defending myself, although after being stabbed by a junkie with a needle when I was working as a Loss Prevention officer and seeing him get 18months which after spending that on remand meant he was out almost straight away. Yet I had 2 years of HIV tests, Hep B immunisations and the family stress and breakdown that caused.
Any weapon, baseball bat, hammer even, shows intent to harm, even in defence, whereas a throwing stick or Maglite Torch for example is defensive, and not offensive.
Mind you, I do have a tough looking Husky, who if you approached her at night or with a walking or hiking or any stick would make you think twice with her bark.
(She is a rescue, and hates people with sticks, think I know why).

And this is exactly why I carry a machete on certain waters that I fish.

Never realised you were so narrow minded, they as actually belong to my girlfriend who has owned the breed for over fourty years

I've never taken my dog on an overnighter but must admit I'm somewhat the opposite of this thread in that, whilst visually he looks imposing and may be an effective deterrent, if anything kicked off I'd want him to stay out of it. He's like my baby and I wouldn't want him being hurt, if he did step in to protect me I'd be distracted/try to protect him and probably would end up in a worse situation than if I was alone.
Mines more of a trip hazard than a ferocious bivvy defender

It's insured, why bother risking your life over a bunch of possessions, society is broken. I know this my wife is a teacher, year 8 kids punching teachers, calling them a C U next tuesday.
Someone comes up to me threatening to nick my stuff. Christ, if they pull a knife I'll help them carry it down the bank.
