0% credit card and get whatever rods you want, work out the payment you want to make each month. Set up direct debit, making sure rods are paid before the end of the 0% period. Buy rods cut up card so you won't use it again and then cancel it once you've paid it off.

People don't like credit, but used right 0% credit cards are the cheapest way to borrow money. I put a lot of my extension through them (builders wanted labour only) to avoid adding to the mortgage and adding interest to the amount.

If you can't find a term that suits at 0% you could always move the balance at the end of the term to another 0% card but usually you'll have a 3% or so fee to do so. Just stick to a repayment that suits and don't keep extending...*

Aside from most of the other comments giving you financial advice as I presume you're a grown adult who is capable of choosing how and when they spend their own money...

The V12 retail company the Tackle Box use are excellent and so easy to use. Basically set it up during purchase and then forget about it as I've had zero dramas during the 6 or 12 month period. Their customer service department is superb and it comes with the SAH branding guarantee.

Lol, i do.

My first ever big tackle overhaul was done by cheque spread in the early 2000's - wrote 10 pre-dated cheques that the shop owner I knew kept under the till drawer and he cashed them in each month.

That was an awesome time - full set of rods, marker, spod, bivvy, bedchair etc. It was the ******** to have all that in one go still being pretty young

I recentlty came across stoozing
LINKY POO™ https://share.google/aimode/L41XRRAGdy0lN0fGC

I had a £5600 bill come in. Rather than paying it off all at once I took out a Barclaycard with interest free transfers in.
No fee to transfer in and I'm paying over 14 months with the minimum amount each month.
At the end of 14 months there will be a sizeable amount to pay but that amount will have gained 14 months interest

Def worth getting an 0% interest free credit deal . . .why lose your capital when you can pay it back in instalments over a fixed time period without penalty? Credit cards are the same - as long as you pay them on their due date they can actually be advantageous (cash back / air miles / loyalty points etc) . . .some interest free purchase cards are up to 36 months which can be handy when buying a big ticker item and can save significant £ in interest payments. . .also helps your credit rating . . .as long as you don't default!

Always best to put bigger purchases on a credit card even if you have the money as covered by section 75 if it goes tits up. Your not covered with the same protection with a debit card and no protection at all with cash. Ive just paid our disney hol off this morning on my credit card even though i have the money in the bank as it comes with the added protection and will now clear the ballance with money in the bank so no debt accrued and im covered if something goes wrong.

Quote... Very modest of you to say so TC

Forgive me I have some hardcore trolls these days from this forum, who in reality know absolutely zero about me or mine whatsoever, just soppy internet gimps. You have to make these Joey's gurn, just that little bit more, you know.

I have no aversions to anyone doing whatever they want. I just like to deal in dollar, up front personally. That's all. We are all different, that's what makes the world a great place.

Paying up front, you can often negotiate much better deals. I have just recently paid off three long term leases, up front in full instead of paying monthly. Two commercial, one private. I have saved my self an absolute fortune by doing so. So much money saved. Cash up front is still king for value if possible.

When I say cash Stuart, I include debit card in that. Really what I mean is instant payment, worded it wrong really.

I barely use cash myself anymore, apart from abroad where cash is still king in a lot of instances. Everything is online or an app in reality these days. Our PayPal business account provides multiple business debit cards (MasterCard). 0% on foreign purchases or cash withdrawals abroad. I tend not to use my high street UK bank accounts for much anymore, apart from keeping wonga in. Everything really is done on the PayPal business card. They give you the exact same protection as a credit card, but it's a debit card.
