You are correct about the R4 mute facility. It is one of two features I don't like the other being the tone settings, you get 8,10 or whatever versions of a high tone, none at all resembling a nice low tone.
But apart from that they are brilliant, I have been using Nash alarms since the RS1 and I would not change from speed sensing to any other type of sensing, if the alarm sounds 99 times out of 100 it's a fish or line bite, both of which I want to know about. No false bleeps from wind or rain or weed..and the battery life is superb.

Been wondering about this myself. Had the txi-d's since they came out and they've been fine, but i'm just not loving them. Having to look at the delkim app when i want to change something as i can't remember what i need to do. Do like the look of the R4's.

Exactly like me with the Delkims. Especially when you don't get out as much recently. I've forgotten what each button does after a month of not fishing. Fox ones I'm swaying to.

I'm not sure it's that big a deal.
I assume you can operate a smartphone to do a quick search on YouTube which will remind you what button x and button y does to get function z on your delkim let's be honest when on the bank we have so much free time
At the end of the day they all go bleep when a bit of line is past through them ..
Let's not overly think it or try to justify choice.

I have the instructions saved on my phone as pdf files that I downloaded from delkim..only takes a couple seconds to refer to it.
That said, don't forget that the newer D's have all these options as extras on top of the older plus model, they don't have to be used.
Drop back difference..... Never have i ever reacted differently to a drop back than a forward take so to me, different tone is pointless

Can someone explain the reason behind the different tone on the sirens for a drop back. In my head it would be obvious if you have had a drop bag as your Indicator will have hit the deck or am I missing something. Genuine question

Say you in your bivvy. Your alarm has couple of beebs it stops. You probably think its a liner don't give it another thought. If it was a backdrop your line is now slack won't get more indication unless fish changes direction and you are non the wiser.
Now if that tone was different indicating a backdrop you know to strike or at least tighten your line to see if it goes slack again. Handy function to have different tones

I like the idea of a drop back differential, but its not essential. And im a delkim user, and dont feel like im missing out not having it. A few beeps ill always look at the indicator anyway. That will tell me far more than an alarm will

I would never use an alarm again that didn't have drop back differentiation.
Once the tones are imprinted in you head, you'll appreciate it on a cold windy dark night when you hear "beep boop" instead of "beep beep" and you instantly know what happened.
I fished with a friend a while back using delkims and I forgot what a pain they were. He had one of those roach bites, where the indicator jist sits and jumps up and down, but the alarm was screaming like a full blown run.
I know peolle love delkims, and I liked mine when I used to have them, but I would never go back. There's a reason you see less and less on the bank. They used to be the most common alarm I saw too.

Totally agree Leroy, I would never go back to an alarm without drop back differential.
I had delks then fox RX+ and really appreciated the drop back tone
You could instantly tell a liner without looking at the bobbin as you'd know it went up and down an inch back to where it started.
I now have Sonik Alarms and am actually impressed with them, the drop back tone and frequency is even better than the RX+ and the bivvy light is very good.
Now Sonik have sorted the gremlins and made improvements with the mk2 versions I reckon they are very good value for money.
Had mine out in some serious weather and they have not missed a beat.

Had a set for 18 months now have been spot on in all weathers and the receiver works at ranges you will never need, Better than any set of Delkims I have ever owned & the dropback feature is great.

Can you remove the snag ears on the nash alarms as i use solar p1 snag ears as i use solar titanium indicators.
