Reuben 9000 digitals for the last ten years ish. I like them so much that I have four sets to save switching from one bag to another.

No, most accurate scales ive ever owned but looks nice just like everything jag makes. The best bit is i can keep it in the little speero pouch with scales as its tiny where before i was always looking around for my other weigh bar as kept it in the bottom of my bag. Its a bit like every other item of tackle we own. Dont really need it at all but looks nice and makes it easier keeping it with the scales and it was only £40.

I paid that more than that for two domino pizzas last night and they will end up in the toilet. Jag weigh bar will last for ever. Its aluminium not stainless so also very light.

They were horrible, dont like pizzas but thats what the kids wanted. I fed most of mine to the dog.

I have had Reuben 9000 scales on the leg of my kayak seat for about the last seven years they are out on salt water in rain snow and frost all year round and are still as good as new. If my dial scales get lost or run over I would get another set of 9000's for carp.

How well does the tare function work on the fox mk2 digitals, I've tried cheaper digital scales (sabre) but you don't have time to transfer the finish into the sling and get it back on the scales before they re zero.
Also do the fox digitals have a hold / lock function or do they constantly weigh.
Again the cheaper scales quickly lock and if the fish is moving it can give a wrong reading, so you have to start again

Plenty of time on the tare. I fish alone and if I land a fish I can easily set up the tripod and camera, zero the scales and then get the fish out, treat any wounds and weigh the fish without the tare reverting. Usually after taking the pics and releasing the fish when I'm tidying up the tare is still in place

I use the newer fox ones and find then brilliant - but I have a method that I try and convert as many people as possible to.
Firstly how much does weight matter to you? For me anything over 25 I would weigh, absolutely no interest in finding a 17-18lb is actually 19-04 x who does it matter to?
Then onto actually weighing, the best way of returning a fish is via a weigh sling - so I just don't understand why anyone would weigh a fish before photographing- it for me is unnecessary handing. Will it make you smile more if it's 30?
It's the calmest way to get pictures and also I rarely use the tare, as I will deduct the sling from the weight afterwards - people will say the sling is a different weight, I don't care - I honestly don't and see so many people get hung up on ounces.
Wherever possible unhook in net and only if I want a snap I will take it out, most times I photo the net, not as a momento but I like a record of dates and times to refer to - if I'm gonna drag the poor thing out the water then the least I can do is keep the transfer from net/mat/sling the minimum fuss.
The worst sounds you hear on a lake is the thrashing on a mat, or twisting in a weigh sling and as for Ali and crew retaining a double overnight when we've seen you've caught one is ludicrous IMO

Each to their own mate. On one of my syndicates there is a rule that all fish must be weighed and photographed on both sides so you need to get organised and know what you are doing and have things to hand and in order. If I am fishing a runs water and targeting multiple smaller fish then I 100% agree with you and often unhook in the net and release without taking out of the water
