If AD would just sort out their dispatch times then I'd be much better disposed towards them!
There's no question otherwise that they provide a very good range of products at largely competitive prices, and their actual physical stores are normally both large and have a great range of stock.

If someone offered me the right money for both of my business's, i'd flog them both tomorrow

I do think some people really dont live in the real world 
its like a school yard with the pathetic childish comments we get on here
just because they are one of the very few that have had a problem with a shop or online seller
I dont think there is a single seller that at some point someone has not bitched about
despite the thousands that havent had a problem ?
maybe I have been just lucky ?
as I have been buying stuff from virtually all of the big names and only ever had one problem with TFT but they sorted it
and I have bought stuff from Angling Direct. and never had a problem always fast delivery and good prices and I will spend my money where ever I want to

I went into Angling Direct for the first time ever today. Having read several posts on this forum, I was expecting the staff inside to be a bunch of half-wit, inbred troglodytes who look at you as you enter as if you've just ran over a cat in the car park, and who grunt in Morse code when you ask them a question. It turns out the people who work there were actually just normal people who were pleasant to deal with.
As for the trading practises of Angling Direct, the simply fact is that they will always out-compete the smaller tackle shops. The options are, therefore, twofold: either Angling Direct buys out existing shops, thus giving them a lump pay-out to clear off, or they set up in a different premises and force the smaller tackle shop out of business. Which would you prefer?

I don't really understand why in Leeds they bought out Eric's then set up 5 minutes down the road from Bobco. I will always go to Bobco as the service is fantastic. I had my 8 month old baby with me last time I went and the guy told me to put everything I wanted in a pile and he would take it down the the checkout for me, (the carp stuff is upstairs) then he put it all in my car. He even went and got a butt section that matched my rods to make sure my butt grips fit perfectly and swapped the ones I had out to a better size. 10 out of 10 from me.

I'd be more concerned about the oil companies , gas companies, electricity company's, water companies ect making record profits that are double ish last year's while bullshifing us it's all covid or Ukraine war blah blah. Most of us don't need to buy tackle but do need gas, electric, water and petrol/deisel.

That's more the fault of the futures market and hedge funds spotting a chance to make some serious money. The energy companies sell on an open market, it's the panic buyers that bumped it up.
And, probably, your pension fund has gone up through trading in futures....

Even if we did buy it when it was cheap we'd have nowhere to store it anymore, thanks to a government that was.....yes....voted in by the majority....and then we moan.
As for pension funds, yes they probably will, as will the associated charges and fees, let's not mention if you die they'll take 50% before passing it on to your spouse in most cases.....how kind.
Dont even get me thinking about the state pension.....Happy bloody Saturday

They bought cheap and then just left it on the tankers moored in the channel for as long as they could, whilst the price went up. Which helped pensions.
The lord giveth and then took a chunk away.......
But then thats what capitalism is all about, we've had some good times, now it'll be **** again for awhile.
I blame the small local tackle shops personally, for not having everything I could ever need, at the lowest price anywhere - the b***ards.

2 and 20 will ensure that very little of the upside escapes from Lombard Street into our pensions.
FWIW - AD's share price has recovered to where it was a year ago having had a big falls before that. They may be a good example of “sales are vanity, profits are sanity, and cash is reality”!

That was my thinking. Sales of 40 mill or any amount don'i really matter. What profit did they make on those sales and what costs did they incur and what was the bottom line profits. Many multi mill turnover businesses have gone to the wall because at the end of the day they weren't profitable.
