£650 and £700 I pay for my 2 Essex waters, for what they are and hold fish wise are good for the money. the main reason a lot are pricey is that land owners keep upping the lease price.

I think there is a lot more to value for money than just cost.
As an example:
I'm on a weekend syndicate (Friday am to Monday am) which is 3 miles from my house. It's 12 acres, 250 ish fish, twenty odd 30's, two 40's and loads of 20's. It's a lovely lake, decent bunch of blokes and very rarely is it full.
The cost has gone up from £240 per year to £375 per year (not complaining). I only do about 15 nights per year, mainly ovenighters on Sunday and leaving early for work on Monday. Works out about £25.00 per night. Even if it's £600 a year in the next few years I'll still renew.
Being so close to home, nice place, nice fish etc etc. To me this is good value
If the same lake, same fish, same blokes etc was 100 miles away and half the price I'm not sure I would join.

I think people will start dropping out of these mega pricey syndicates and waters charging more than £30/24 hours.
With the cost of living being what it is, people will if they haven't already be prioritising gas and electric over getting to a lake and some of these syndicates might need to revisit their pricing strategy.
I paid more than the figure you mentioned last year to fish one commercial water and I won't be doing that again this year. Club water and one other little special place that doesn't cost much.
These pricey waters see other waters increasing their 24 hour rates and they jump on the band waggon and before you know it nobody will be able to afford to go to any of them.

Unfortunately ours is increasingly becoming a rich man's pastime. The average Joe will find it increasingly difficult to afford the rising costs of tickets, tackle and bait.

I agree. And fair play to anywhere that looks to keep it's prices inclusive of decent anglers who may otherwise be priced out through force of economics.

Less and less lakes do season tickets now too. The lake I cut my teeth on used ti have a partial season ticket, it was about £110 for the year, and that didn't give unlimited fishing, but knocked a 24h ticket down to £10 from £20. To me, that makes fantastic business sense.
It gives people an incentive to fish your lake and not the others near by. Most of these lakes charging £30 a night don't seem to be chasing repeat custom, as the people fishing them flit from one day ticket to another.
I approached a local dayticket asking of they would do a reduced price ticket over the week, for people doing sessions in-between work, and they said no. There is no way I'm paying £25 to fish a 12h session over night.

Money ,greed and lack of forethought short term gain will kill carp fishing ..
This is why,being the forward thinking out of the box type of person,I have literally whittled down all my carp kit ,minimal ,because although I'm luckier than some at the moment,things change ,hence why I have sold off lots and lots of stuff I don't use use ,..and have used the money to sort out a smart but very basic general course set up..
Because at some point ,I'll have my cut off and that's 30 quid for 24 hrs ,any more than that I'm out ,...and will just float fish ..

On top of the 24 hour rates a lot of commercials are also charging an annual membership fee. It was explained to me last year by the owner of the commercial water that I fish and who I have a lot of respect for, that this is to deter the muppets which I completey understand especially as there's a few about.
Unfortunately it is becoming a rich man's sport. I do have some sympathy with costs increasing given the kind of inflation we're all facing but I also think that if I was 30 years younger starting out with no gear a low paid job, a mortgage, bills and a child to support I'm not sure I'd bother to be honest.

I didn't know some commercials are charging for a annual membership fee,that's a new one on me..
I'm.just used to researching a place,turn up,fish ,enjoy and repeat on other venues..I think your right as well it may well turn into a rich man's sport ,as much as I love fishing ,there will come a point where, some including myself will evaluate their over all legitimacy on where angling ,monetarily sits in the persons lifestyle ..
I've two years left,by this I mean when I'm 60,if god allows,...lol..I'll decide whether to carry on or just course fish..(my father always said I'll go back to it ,course fishing etc,I do this anyways ,but on a smaller level than carping)...
Meanwhile I'm certainly just keeping my kit as tidy and tight as you can,but in real terms it's the total overall cost of going today..ie bait ,food ,car fuel and distance to travel ,it all has a bearing on it..
I've lots of contacts,fishing acquainted people who invite me all over the place,sometimes I can't justify it money wise..,I'm sure others feel like I do..

I'm not sure if they limit the number of memberships though as numbers of anglers will come from further afield. I think Foxearth did that system for a while, although they now have single day ticket price, and differentiation between times, an overnight, a day or 24hours (£30).
I keep saying, I can't afford £60 for 2nights anywhere, right now money is very tight. A sensibly priced annual ticket on a decent venue can be saved up for.

Waters I've looked at for this coming season are
Syndicates at £500 and £800, but they have a year or 2 wait until I can get on.
