This... so true! In a previous incarnation, many years ago, I trained as a kayak / canoe instructor to a good level. We used to undertake a variety of practise rescues in cold water in January and regardless of winter wetsuits, knowing what was coming and fairly calm conditions, the shock of capsizing/ falling in was always the debilitating factor. It didn't matter how experienced you were, the shock & the cold would slow you down, make decision-making harder and the tiredness hits you quickly - far quicker than you would realise. I hate to think what would happen in a similar scenario if you were wearing waders as well.
I have fished big inland seas & rivers in Europe with boats over the last 30 years or so and there is no way I would ever go out on a boat wearing waders regardless of any advice from so-called experts. Be sensible, be cautious, plan for the worst case scenario, never go out if you have the slightest concern, watch the weather forecast & always, always wear a life jacket.

The legendary Hugh Falkus filmed himself many years ago in his fishing program on TV throwing himself into a river wearing waders and demonstrated how to survive, do not raise your arms, you sink, lower your arms and you will stay up on the surface.

I seen a documentary once about some bloke called Derek from Peckham, London, who I couldn't swing he went to Miami on holiday with his brother and went on a jet ski which had unbeknown to him been tampered with and went straight out to sea, luckily enough the coast guard rescued him... and his uncle was a sailor and was in both the royal and merchant navy and travelled the world several times over and he couldn't swim also....those Londoners are a strange breed

I know, I did not take it personal. Just trying to question this type of content being put online for the sake of it, cause I wonder why he would go and make this video in the first place. It does nothing but plant the seed of doubt. It may be something to take into consideration for a small group of anglers with lots of boating experience, but today there's sixteen year olds with hardly any experience that watch his videos and take it at face value.
Kind of the same with the lifejacket debate. Nash had tons of safety complaints in the comments sections of their YT-videos, saying they did not set a good example. Now loads of brands and fishermen promote lifejackets. Most of these jackets cannot even put a toddler upright, let alone a grown man wearing winter clothes and waders. People will buy that garbage though and put their lives in the hands of some sponsored guy saying its all okay.

Because the bloke is a feckin idiot along with his sidekick and is scrapping the barrel for regurgitated content so mugs can pay monthly for it.
Waders shouldn't be worn in boats for a list of the reasons outlined in this thread - some clown jumping into a swimming pool doesn't replicate the real scenario when out mid lake in a boat and it all goes tits up.

Wasn't it Fox who first advocated life jackets in all their videos with boats in, and bought out a life jacket after the sad deaths of Clive Rigsby and Keith Selleck?
I get spooked wearing chest waders even just wading, and won't go out without a prodding or feeler stick, too easy to fall into an unknown hole, especially if the carp have dug deeply into the silt.
As for going into a boat, I'll always put my life jacket on, and make sure I'm either barefoot or wearing trainers.
If you fell out of a boat, with waders on, and life jacket, it only takes getting caught up in weed and the nice buoyancy it provides could well not help you at all. I've waded through weed, and at times getting free is difficult when you have weed around your feet.

Problem is panic can set in, and fingers can't undo clips, or they stick, so getting out can be a problem.
