Yeah leaving it unzipped and unattended is bang out of order, however if properly zipped and the branch sturdy and secure its a valid thing to do, but not reccomended if you have the slightest doubt to the branches integrity

How can it be. If it flaps about it could easily smash itself on the trunk or worse still the sling could become unhooked and it fall onto hard ground.
I don't think there is any other way to safely handle a fish other than to leave it in the water until you are fully set up and it's rested. Then lift it out of the water, preferably in a retainer. Straight onto a decent padded mat with sides. Then weigh it. Keep it wet. Lift it for photos no higher than knee height. If it must be left unattended for a moment then that should be on its side in the mat. Then straight back into the water in the retainer for release.
Anything less than that on my waters would see you a. Banned instantly and b. Probably at risk of a smack off of at least one of the bailiffs and c. Probably black listed from any other water within about twenty miles.

I noticed Dave Lane didn't get all this flack when he weighed the burgfield common and most of his other bigguns on a tree. But tbf he didn't leave it 10 mins to have a cuppa.

Mate seriously there is nothing "valid" whatsoever about the whole sorry episode....under no circumstances should you leave a Carp, let alone a 50lb one suspended from a tree breach 4ft off the ground.

Unfortunately Bluebell is ran different to how it used to be the place is manic it's a money pit so fair play to them but it's not my cup of tea anymore,that video is shocking tbh but this is the kind of angler they attract up there so let them carry on,absolute circus up there

Apparently the bailifs visited and joked with him, and he stayed. He posted another video later calling out 'bad attitude' (presumably from the people who didn't like his weighing technique)

I couldn't believe what I saw with this video but even worse was his attitude afterwards telling everyone he does it all the time and he knows what he is doing.
What was shocking is in the bailiffs comments when someone mentioned banning him all he said was “if I was working I would of banned him” really? Surely all he needs to do is ban him with the evidence from the video? Maybe who ever runs bluebell should ban him still but apparently they won't 🤦♀️ It's crazy just goes to show what kinda circus it is up there now

You could say that of around 60% of waters I would bet?
Carpfishing is no longer about the fish, it's about peoples egos, their 5 minutes of fame and the chance of some cheap bait, that's the main motivation
All those complaining about fish care, just think yourselves lucky he didn't have a few in the night, could have been fish hung in trees all over the place
