Lol,
I was 60 yesterday and spent the day getting a PCR, missing a day on the bank and thinking I'd been cheated of another days fishing, tested Negative back out tomorrow.
It's not all down hill fast, more a gentle slow down and realisation that you've more time behind you than in front, that said there's always time to enjoy another days fishing.
😂😂😂😂

PMA, it's all about attitude, I'm 63 and still ride a 250kg bike, away this year with club members on tour and some members are over 80 and still riding bikes the size. Don't forget life begins at 50.

So long ago I have forgotten how I felt as I passed by that particular milestone.

Hope ur day is better than mine was, spent all day in the savoy hotel london toilet on a Monday, after one oyster from boro market Saturday, treble normal ring sting and ur about there. Happy birthday, retirement is at the forefront for me now, 14 years to go.

For me it didn't all go downhill at 50, I was still playing tennis at an OK standard (club first team and even played county over 50's for a couple of years) but by God 55 has been a different matter.
I've always been injury prone, broken wrist, two shoulder surgeries, knee surgery and a knackered back to name a few (all due to tennis) but at 55, in fact from the age of about 52/53 I've found things much tougher. Currently I'm playing left handed as my right wrist is knackered and doesn't seem to be getting better. I find it just a general lack of energy or interest, probably not help by the fact that playing left handed, and at a much lower level, is tough.
My father, brother and best fishing buddy have all died in the last 4 years and those have taken a toll, mostly my fishing bud to be honest, still miss him and hardly fish now. So I guess emotionally it has been a struggle too.
Anyway, as others have said, try to keep active and eat and drink sensibly, or at least in moderation. Stretching really helps but don't overdo it. If you're active try to stay active and if you're not then try to get active, dog walking, sport, active fishing (not just carp camping) should all help.
Also try to stay positive mentally, and if you find the trick to that please let me know!

Me too. The only thing I've noticed over the last 10 years are that carbs are my nemesis, especially bread
Plenty of phys and just being sensible and you will be fine

When I turned fifty I found my taste in woman expanded
But trying to find things to eat declined

Am 71 now, Still able to do a week wild carping and a 2 night boat session.
Always tried to be active, usual stuff, football until I was 38 and too slow, road running until something hurt, gym, lots of Covid walking, now more joints hurt so back on the road bike.
All the exercise is really so I can keep doing what I love for as long as I can.
Your home gym looks good, carpstar... I envy that, keep at it!
happy Birthday, Devon!
