Too obvious maybe, but Fox and Daiwa were making things either specifically for an emerging market or products which were being adopted/adapted for use in carp/ specialist fishing. Lafuma still make loungers.

I remember my first ever bait runner type reel and I think it was Dam where you pushed the front spool down to engage the free spool facility ,half the time it didn't work 😂😂
