Even though he might not fish anymore. Maybe he might be well enough to do a short podcast. There's so many anglers that hold him dear due to his fantastic writing. I'm sure it would be very well received. Even better maybe he could do a short Korda podcast and with their reach they might be able to help raise awareness or raise some money towards Parkinson's research.

I used to read a lot of his work. Still use the line aligner. Didn't know he was unwell. Wish him all the best.

I met Jim at a BCSG do at Kingston College must of been late60s early 70s ?

Spot on....and big water carp inspired me on the bigger waters mate. Sad to hear he cant do what he loves anymore. A podcast if possible would be a great idea.

I remember watching him competing for the golden maggot on the fishing race back in the day.

My favourite carp angling writer. Intelligent, unafraid to be different, and very successful. I always read his article first in Carpworld.

Agree completely. First rate writer who has made a huge contribution over many years.

When carp fishing was about a passion for big old carp and it really meant something, nothing else 
What is it now, a get out of life “mong” excuse,where it's all about the £s, lbs and fame and fortune, when greed took over your pastime and everybody is trying to make a living or scrounge something from it. Sad ****s

Its thanks to Jim that I have spent so much time on the bank to this day since his articles in the 60's. Think I have a folder full of them when he wrote in the now sadly defunct magazine "Angling". I can always recall in one article he wrote many years ago somewhere, and with being an English teacher, his hatred for the use of the word "Edge" in Carp fishing. There is no place for it, its meaning does not fit in with anything carp related. ie, someone has an "Edge" over others, a bait has an "Edge" over other baits etc.
