I am enjoying Kevin's videos brings back a lot by of nostalgic memories and a couple of the people featured I've met along the way and haven't seen for many years. Like Kevin I too took a video in the late eighties and nineties to record sessions in France and campaigns on English waters, I was lucky enough to have a VHS player until recently that enabled the transfer of tape to DVD. Watching back some of the footage from the stow, Nazeing meads, Wormlybury, King George and in France the Lot, lac Du Charme, etang du Puit and the siene reminded me of great times with great friends unfortunately some no longer with us certainly reminded me why I fish for carp

Great stuff, were they the Les Bamford converted Optonics you were using, I had a set, thought they were the best at that time

There's a whole load of us who are still in regular contact, all of the lads are still fishing.
These are lifelong friendships that started back in the 70s and 80s and was due to our love of fishing.
Kevin hasn't changed much, it takes a special type of person to sit in a swim with him for a week listening to his **** music,cooking and washing up and generally listening to his bollox 😂
I'm not so sure it comes across in the films just how intense he is when he fishes, all the laughing and joking is part of his angling but when he's on it, he's on it and works had hard as anybody I've seen.
Not sure what the alarm conversions were ( they will be in his garage somewhere ) very likely they were bamfords which were popular at the time.
Mine were converted by a guy called Bernie Heery, he was a south Weald angler who went on to fish savay and is ( would be ) still fishing today

Nice to hear. I guess it's same for most people, if fishing is in your blood it's in your blood and for me there is no better place to relax than at the side of a lake. I have my regular friends that I have fished with most of my life and I have also met some top guys whilst on the bank, some who you bump into every few years and it's just nice to have a good chat and catch up of what they have been on with

There might be some footage out there, but probably not much.
It probably wasnt until the mid nineties that video camera's became small enough to realistically carry around.

I saw a video recently, a guy was going round Savay showing
all the swims, for the life of me I can't remember who it was or
where I saw it, most likely Youtube, I fished Savay in the late 80s
early 90s, didn't catch much but being there was enough for me,
didn't realise at the time that it would become part of carp history,

Watched these with a friend of mine and his 17 year old son. The son is all bosh, munga, Harrison and basia (daddy obliges)
Watching the boys face while we watched it, it occurred to me that these are bridge videos between old school and the so called "pot noodle" youngsters.
Certainly gave the young man perspective on where the tactics, baits etc actually came from and the work that went into modern carping all those years ago, certainly made me feel good.
Big up for Kevin for releasing these, I think they'll do so much more good than he realises
