I've gone back to brolly systems again after using dome style bivvies.
I can use a brolly for days or single nights, or with an overwrap for wet nights, longer sessions.
After using RH Apotheosis, Fox Easydomes, and Roamer Domes, which I did like, I found the brolly was more versatile and to be honest just as easy with as much space inside.

I find the alternatives too big and heavy for day sessions, and still find the tempest brolly type shelters restrict the view too much. I think a brolly system will suit me better
I use a Groundhog brolly most of the time and it does me fine, when it goes a V2 brolly is the replacement. Mates have the V1 and it is so easy to erect and space aplenty.

Nope, I didn't like Pramhood bivvies, didn't even go near one after checking the weight and awkwardness of carrying in a tackle shop.
For years on the reservoirs I have needed lightness, a bivvy that packs away into a small bag or will fit into my rod holdall. An umbrella, Roamer Dome or Nash Outlaw Hurricane fitted the bill, as gates, stiles and ditches didn't allow for a barrow.

Couldn't agree more Rich. Nought warmer than canvas in the winter. It's far to heavy people say.. What these younger anglers dont realise is we had to carry this on our back. Barrows weren't even a thing. A Canvas over wrap on something like the Tempest or hide would sell.

I remember Kevin Nash saying PVA was obsolete as the carp had sussed it !
He however had just released the perfect answer in a sort of dissolving polo mint you threaded on the line !
That must have been 15 plus years ago and we all still use PVA .

My mate had the kn canvas overwrap it was very heavy when wet I had the brolly tent £19.99 felt like 1 oz nylon throw it over a cheep nylon brolly with the pole in the centre put my Argos click click bed with two covers on with foam in middle one side of pole then moved on to the kn nylon overwrap those where the days I don't think the brolly is dead still very good for short sessions

I still use a brolly for day sessions to keep the rain off or the wind out. I take out the centre pole and have two storm poles on each spoke - loads of room for gear, me and my low chair. They're easy to cart around (no barrow, just a sling) and pack away. I hate sitting in shelters like some demented dwarf. As soon as the rain stops, I collapse the brolly and put it away. People take way too much gear these days - brollies are perfect for keeping things simple, allowing me to move swims and stay dry when I need to. Watching people setting up shelters and then sitting in them all day long for just a day session... glorified camping? You decide. The brollie is far from dead IMO.

Done over a 1000 nights under various ovals. 50's, 55's and 60's without fronts.

Two storm poles on each spoke, my brolly has seven spokes, buggered if I'm lugging fourteen storm poles on top of my day session kit.

I have a Hog and one of the last KN Canvas, powerplus professional and a Titan T1 Camo and Over wrap.
I'd never get rid of the first as I use the Hog for 90% of my fishing the other two are a waste of several days drying them out, nice to use for a few days and all that. Was thinking just today that I may sell them both.
Just hope the oval style brolly is still available when my Hog does one day.
