I have one of them for camping with the family. Way too big and bulky for my kind of angling but I can recommend them for those that don't mind taking plenty of gear.

I'm starting to understand why some people need to do two trips with the barrow for an overnighter

look at the cadac safari chef 2 hp. It packs away to nice compact size and comes with every accessory you would ever need. a frying flat grizzle pan, ribbed grill plate for bbq, pot and stand for kettle etc in a nice carry bag. As its hp you can use any c500 canisters (i use coleman) which screws into bottom of burner so no hoses etc on the floor.
Awesome bit of kit and big enough to cook for 2. They also do an lp version to use with regular gas (can also have a kit to make it useable with c500 canisters) but for me defeats the purpose carrying additional hoses etc with you.
They also do a big boy version the carri chef 2 but that is ott for fishing in my opinion. I own it and its perfect for camping/family trips

I bought one of theses earlier in the year, brilliant bit of kit, only take it now and again and tend to use it when I'd normally use a BBQ but it's also good that you can put the lid on (which doubles as a wok) and use it as an oven

yeah man awesome bit of kit. they might be bit on the expensive side for some people but imo well worth the money. its as good making brekkie on it as it is bbq a nice sirloin steak lol.
only downside i would say for the hp version is it loses bit of power when the c500 canisters gets on the low side but thats to be expected due to pressure loss. Either way the canisters are relatively cheap and last ages so i dont feel guilty binning one with some gas still in it if it does drop

If you warm the cans up you get more out of them. In winter you don't get much out of a can, just the propane content really on the cadac without using something to keep the temperature up

No, they have the opposite effect and let the can get even colder, as when the gas is released it makes the can colder, you need something to buffer it like warm water or handwarmer strapped to it. Even cold water will help more than those covers, they're useless

Your right about gas can covers and the hand warmers but if you put the two together they work a treat, drop the hand warmers into the cover before inserting the can, the warmers fit in the recess on the bottom of the can a treat.
