This brings back memories

At the start for me it was Kevin Maddox boilies where you got 2 hooks free in each pack

Rolling my own would be Nutrabaits big fish mix, Salmon oil, sweet cajosur things and plum flavour.
What ever basically Julian cundiff was using 🤣🤣

As a kid I rented one of the caravans on Withy pool. Upon my arrival Kevin gave me two bags of his Gorgonzola boilies

Richworth Tutti Frutti to be exact,all others were just pretenders. The 10mm boilies
were a fantastic bait.

Solar winter mix and pro active pineapple done very well on both in the winter

First boilies I bought were Nutrabaits pineapple and bannna, probably around 1992. I never got on with them or persevered with them. Boilies were a new introduction into my fishing, carp anglers were using boilies so I thought I would try them. They did not wriggle, were not meaty and seemed so totally unnatural for me, a round flavoured ball just sat there, back on the meat and corn for me

There's a few baits that I have used over the years that I have had a lot of success on

BFM, Tear the lid off the bucket and when you smell it you just know it's going to work

Did a bit on Trigga but mainly the ice version, had a few good years on this, pre-rolled and rolling my own but again, preferred the BFM

Premier baits Aminos and Superamino's caught me a lot of fish

Nash monster pursuit and later the Nash Tangee peach caught me a lot of fish. If I want a firm bait, even today, it's Nash if it's ready rolled. Firm but attractive and great where there are a lot of silver fish

Mainline Activ 8 was a good bait, it caught a lot of carp around me, spent a bit of time on this but also used the activator in my own base and baits for a while, caught a few on Fusion too but did not spend a long time on it

Nothing ventured, nothing gained

New Concepts Baits Mariner Mix.

All of those produced a few fish, along with experimentation in bait making back as far back as 1985, and upsetting my mother with some major smells from some mixes I came up with.
I think the worst stink was Chappie dog food, ground Pond pellets and semolina mixed with egg, but boy did it work.

I remember buying the cotswolds bait meta bait base mix with monster allure in around 1989-1990 or so. First boilies I ever made

first used custard powder and luncheon meat late 70s..first started rolling my own using Geoff kemps ultra mix with dairy cream flavour..first ready rolled was rich worth salmon supreme, worked a treat when they got sticky and started to turn.. then used mission baits condensed milk..supplied by the don.. then darenth valley baits skunk and geranium..

Think they were richworth strawberry flavour. Couldn't afford to chuck any freebies in back in the day and they care in small packs. Remember sitting in the old mans sapphire one freezing day watching the rods and a blackbird flew down and pulled one out of the bag. Christ above knows what he was going to do with it, they were like marbles but they smelt lovely

After that we made our own with big fish mix and leek flavour which absolutely stank.
