There's a few VS fisheries carp swimming around in a local (to me) day ticket venue, which were delivered and introduced to the lake by Simon Scott himself a couple of years ago.
From the photos i've seen they were probably C5 AND C6's.
They are pretty and healthy fish, and i've been fortunate enough to of had one or two of them on the bank myself.

The waltonian/Sutton crosses are superb. Deep bodied, big apple slice scales, thick set bruisers. I know some guys say the VS fish can be a bit samey. But it's a style of fish I like so I'm quite happy about that.
Above all they seem to be a healthy strain of fish which to me is more important than hyper speed growth rates.
I thought this was a superb podcast and anyone who loves carp fishing couldn't fail to be impressed with the emotion he manages to convey about his most special captures.

+1 have herd his wraysbury stories a few times and never get bored of them, especially when recited with such passion.
Really interested in the sections about leathers, overall a great listen... but as others have said when he is speaking they are always a good listen.

Agree, there are much worse out there imo.
The one thing they seem to lack is getting to proper monstrous weights, often topping out at mid 40s. I don't think I'm aware of a VS fish that's done 50 (although I've no doubt they exist, particularly after it was mentioned on this podcast that Kenny Gates water holds VS fish).

think the podcast said that he knows of 3 48lb+ VS fish but no fish at 50lb as yet. (or that they have admitted too)

So a big low pressure comes in, and fish start boshing up and down the lake. There itchy all of a sudden then??

I've got to admit I thought the same. Fish definitely top for reasons other than to shed parasites.

The bit about the Leather Carp was very interesting!
Found it amazing when he was saying how the breed them on the farm and you end up with 25% Commons, 25% Leathers and so on, who would have guessed that would be the case!? Incredible!

Great podcast really really enjoyed it, his enthusiasm certainly comes across...the 3 hours flew by.

Going to have a listen to this later. I got a place on the fisheries management HND course at Sparsholt back in the mid 90's, was gutted that I couldn't take it up in the end as I just couldn't afford to move that far away from home. I'm happy with what I'm doing now, but I often wonder what might have been.

Yep agreed.
I had no idea how bad the tackle thefts were over there and what it really took to fish the place.
And hearing these stories now just adds to the respect for those captures back in the day.
It would have defo got the better of me I think.
